Ossoff: Was it the assessment of the intelligence community that there was an imminent nuclear threat posed by the Iranian regime? Gabbard: The only person who can determine what is and is not an imminent threat is the president. It is not the intelligence community's responsibility to determine what is and is not an imminent threat. Ossoff: It is precisely your responsibility. This is the worldwide threats hearing where, as you noted in your opening testimony quote, you represent the ic's assessment of threats.

HAINES: "If Congress just said, 'we're not gonna take our paychecks till we figure this out,' that would be a noble step in the right direction." SANDERS: "Not everybody can afford to do that..." HAINES: "Neither can the people that aren't getting paid though."

I just deleted my post about how many sober days I had under my belt. The last time I did that, some woman said, "Come back when you've done 3 years." I shouldn't let people like that bother me, but it did hurt my feelings a bit. So, yeah. For anyone who cares, it's 48 days.

I read a thing on the internet one time about how you shouldn’t post your dog’s name online because nefarious types could use that information to kidnap your pup. As such, for the past ten years, anytime I mentioned my little best friend on social media, I referred to him as Younger Jeezy. That’s how people knew him. That’s how people asked me about him. That’s not his real name, though. His real name is Bundger. Or, rather: His real name was Bundger. He passed away peacefully in his sleep last night. He was in his then-favorite bed (a new one I’d bought recently for him and his little sister that he immediately claimed as his own), in a home full of people who loved him, and with a belly full of chicken fajita strips. We should all be so lucky. I’m sure I’ll have more things to say about him after the fog lifts—things about the way he would nuzzle up next to my feet whenever I was writing, or how excited he’d get when you’d ask him if he wanted to go on a car ride, or how anytime Larami would put on a bikini he would go stand by the back door because he knew it meant she was gonna sun bathe—but for now I just want to say: I’m sad that he wasn’t there to greet me when I got home from work today. I will miss him for a very long time. He was the best dog I ever had.

Doesn’t it seem wrong that it is legal to pay people to protest and to be able to do so anonymously, even if the funding is from enemies of the state? Protests can materially affect public opinion and politics. Reports about protests are used by the media to advance agendas, and they are often fake. That is, the protestors often don’t believe what they are saying or know very little about what they are marching about. Why shouldn’t protesters be required to disclose if they are paid and by whom? Political advertisements require disclosures about who paid for them. Why are protests and protestors not held to this same standard?

For those wondering what Mahmoud Khalil did, he was lead negotiator of the group unleashing this lawless terror on Columbia’s campus. He wld’ve been the one demanding that univ divest from Israel or they wld con’t the lawlessness. Not a free speech case. nypost.com/2024/04/30/us-…

This is not what they found. They found 394 Social Security numbers. Less than 70 million belong to recipients. 180 million belong to workers paying payroll taxes — including non-citizens with green cards or work visas. Most of the rest belong to non-workers, especially children. Some are old numbers of people that have since died. But pretty much no one is collecting benefits on those numbers. They were never deactivated because the deaths happened before we had good data matching.
