Vattenfall's decision to take the next step to build new nuclear power is not just a choice of path for our country's future - it is the start of something bigger. Sweden now takes its place in the global nuclear power race that is currently underway. Right now, over 60 reactors are being built around the world. 15 EU countries are interested in, or already building, new nuclear power. Sweden is a strong voice in the European Nuclear Alliance and is now also taking a position as a hub for new nuclear power in the Baltic Sea region. This shows that the government's policy is working: we create long-term conditions for investors, put technology before ideology and safety before short-term solutions.
