My grandfather told me a touching story last night.
Apparently, sometime in the 1700s, some Igbo men quietly discovered a swampy place, cleared the water, named it Lagos, built the bridges, created the traffic, and then generously allowed everyone else to come and stay there. Saying Lagos is no man’s land might not be entirely true. It belongs to the Igbos who kindly let others manage it.

Today, it was the photographer at the Visa processing company that was acting like a consular officer. lol. That Bovi ‘Visa On Arrival’ show couldn’t be more real. I was just looking at the guy. You’d make more money by just being a little courteous.

@Omojuwa Preach!🙌🏽Our cultural framework often lacks the understanding for conditions like severe depression or trauma-induced breakdowns. Until we accept that mental health crises are legitimate, people will continue suffering in silence or being helped in ways that don't actually help.

Happy to hear Folake is now with family. A few things to learn here. - it is not every form of mental breakdown that is associated with drugs or a spiritual attack. There were a little too many people who insisted this was because of drugs or spiritual attack. I understand how our view of the world will always be limited by what we know or are used to. But it doesn’t make our view exhaustive. - if you found yourself in Folake’s situation, how would you want to be helped? Could she have gotten help without videos of her mental breakdown being posted on the internet? At what point does seeking help for her clash with other motives? Let us continue to look out for one another, but we must question our own motives even in these moments of kindness. That way we offer help without creating new problems. And when help has been found, it’s okay to delete the posts, especially when such posts whilst helping to get help also compromised the dignity of the helped. These aren’t experiences the average person deals with everyday, so we cannot judge one another too hard. We can only learn to do better. Take care of you.

@egi_nupe For me, i think Sen. Abaribe is either betting on impunity or playing a longer game. Either way, the constitutional position is clear: he has forfeited his seat. The only question now is whether APGA will enforce their rights and whether the Senate will respect the Constitution.

As a serving member of the National Assembly, can’t leave a party which sponsored your election to another and still retain your seat. The only thing that will make you leave your party and retain your seat is if the reason you are leaving your party is due to a merger or a division such that it makes it impossible for that original party cannot function as a political party again. So what happened to APGA that is making Senator Abaribe cross-carpet to ADC? Is there a division in APGA or a merger with another political party? Does he not know that in the absence of a division in APGA or merger by APGA with another party, he will lose his seat?

Unfortunately, Lagos Government cannot prevent people from coming into the State. The Constitutional right to freedom of movement is guaranteed to enable any Nigeria to move, live and establish business in any part of Nigeria. So any thing suggesting that Lagos should deport certain people from the state back to their states is illegal, unconstitutional and cannot stand the democratic test. Although, the right to such freedom of movement is not absolute. It can be curtailed where a law is made to that effect and the law is reasonably justifiable in a democratic society in the interest of defence, public safety, public morality and public health or for the protection of the rights and freedom of other persons. Therefore, if the Lagos Government can fine tune a law in this regard, it may succeed in controlling its ever growing population and adjust its infrastructures to cater for the ones it can cater for sufficiently. May be this will also attract the attention of other states whose people continue to constitute nuisance and destitutes in Lagos State.

@Wizarab10 This is facts, and people need to hear it without sugarcoating. You can't control how people experience you. Those who know you personally will use your name. Those who know you through your partner will reference that relationship.

Sir Dickson@Wizarab10·
If your partner is popular, you'll be known as the partner to the popular person. Those who know you personally, will address you by your name. E.g, Omotola's husband, Kunle Remi's wife. While they have personal identities, it is irrelevant to the public who only experience them through their partner. If you find it derogatory being addressed with the married title to your partner, you shouldn't have married them in the first place. You should feel proud being addressed as your partner's partner. If your partner was not famous, you wouldn't even be consequential in the discourse. Even your friend's partner that you are not close with, you refer to them in 3rd person as your friend's wife/husband. Miss us with this performative crap of wanting everybody to address you by your name and professional title. Who are you? That is a lot of personal insecurity. Success is not desperate to be announced. Everyone experiences you differently and will address you as same. Those who know you personally or professionally, will address you by name or professional title. Those who know you through your partner will address you through your relationship with your partner. As a matter of fact, when introducing yourself to people, first name is enough. It is not the world's business that you're a lawyer or doctor. No be only you go school. If the conversation goes deeper where you're asked what you do, you can state it. You have 4 Masters, and so what? You people should go and sit down.

@IamAyorrent @Omojuwa If Arsenal had lost 4-1 or 5-1 like City and Chelsea did yesterday, Sky Sports would have dedicated an entire week to dissecting Arsenal's European failure, questioning Arteta's tactics, and debating whether they're mentally strong enough for the big stage.

The Premier League’s strength has become its weakness. Every single game is an ordeal, irrespective of the team’s position on the table. Add the schedule and the absence of a winter break, they arrive in the spring spent and tired. 6 teams. 4 embarrassing losses, 2 draws. They will most likely lose 4 teams at this stage. It could even be 5. They could have had 4 teams or so in the quarterfinals. All said, we were certainly entertained by the likes of Chelsea, Man City and Tottenham. So it’s not all bad. Gary Neville and the likes must be proud of the entertainment value delivered by these clubs.
