First off, the 50% tariff on materials will increase the cost to build an average house by *napkin math* $60,000. SIXTY THOUSAND DOLLARS MORE EXPENSIVE he just made your dream home cost to build. Second, "declaring an emergency" on energy isn't going to magically make the reliance on Canadian energy go away. Our grid hasn't been able to handle things even WITH Canadian assistance, now we're gonna go it alone? This dumb MF'er legitimately thinks we're just going to stand up power plants in 4 weeks? Just wave your magic mushroom-shaped wand and a building appears? What the actual fuck? Third, he's not going to stop the auto industry in Canada, what he's going to do is DESTROY THE AUTO INDUSTRY IN AMERICA. The Big 3 have already stated any tariffs on Canada would destroy ALL PROFITS for them because they can't raise prices in this environment and still have buyers. And again, he thinks you can just stand up factory lines and staff them in a couple of weeks.
