What is the lifecycle of a fact inside a news system? What sustains a fact after it first enters a story cluster? Can facts be modeled as nodes that are born, strengthened, challenged, updated, and eventually decay? Can we track fact nodes the way we track story clusters? Should every fact have a lifecycle ... origin, verification, spread, mutation, reinforcement, and decay? What keeps a fact alive? repetition, corroboration, authority, or continued arrival of supporting evidence? Can a news engine track the state of each fact over time instead of only tracking whole articles? If stories evolve, shouldn’t facts also have their own lifecycle graph? Can we build a fact-node model where each fact has ancestry, supporting evidence, contradictions, and a survival curve?
