@British_Esports It's just a shame to see no actual actions were taken after the incredible outcry from the community, just a real shame. I really have no idea how this managed to pass through and no one said it might be a bad idea.

Y'all give me £30k and I'll personally run an alternative to British Esports Student Champs. Of course, casters and so on would need pay as well so maybe up those rates, but something needs to be done.

Had a few people asking me for more information regarding why the @British_Esports announcement is blowing up the way it is so thought I'd explain in a bit more detail. TLDR: the BEF have shown their true colours, they care more about money than they do about the humans that are investing their lives into esports. They are corrupt at the top and should not be allowed to continue being a contributing factor to the success of our industry. Anyone negatively impacted by the statements made by the BEF or just in general my DM's are always open please feel free to reach out. To set some context, when you create a partnership in a business especially one as big as the BEF, you're saying "I agree with the values and morals of this other company, we both want to achieve the same things so a partnership makes sense". So why are we partnering with SAUDI ARABIA?? Even if we ignore the human rights violations such as: - Convicting and sentencing people who speak out against them for up to 45 years in prison for speaking out about things such as woman's rights in Saudi Arabia. - Death penalty still existing even with "grossly unfair trials" and torture being accepted, there are examples where family wasn't even told their relatives were going to be executed, this also includes children. - Women were only recently allowed to obtain a passport and travel without a guardians permission, women must still require a male guardians approval for things as basic as healthcare allowing men to file cases against women in their family for "disobedience", there is systematic discrimination against women in a country in 2023, disgusting. - LGBT people are not allowed to exist, same sex activity is illegal with the the maximum penalty under the law being THE DEATH PENALITY, torture or just being left in a prison cell for an undisclosed amount of time to rot. - A country that is one of the absolute worst for overall safety from the state as stated by HRMI which is a human rights tracker. - Authorities take action against those who try and speak out, even peaceful activists, if you speak out then you and your family go bye bye. - Disabled people are depicted a deviant, pathological and defective resulting in the social degradation of disabled people. Lets say we don't take any of these things into consideration, the BRITISH ESPORTS FEDERATION is "a national body for esports in the UK". This has NOTHING TO DO WITH SAUDI ARABIA. Saudi Arabia is currently throwing billions at events for tourism and partnerships like this one to divert attention from the human rights violations they are committing and the ones at the top have decided they would prefer a fat paycheck than to keep their morals and support UK esports. During these events we've seen reporters and news companies being held at gunpoint by authorities as of recent, even with passes to record and create content, this does not matter apparently. Picking and choosing who you work with and support as a national body should not exist, having partnerships with some places and not others who are pushing for the growth of esports is just greedy and this has become even more evident with this partnership. @WomenIn_Esports is an amazing initiative with great people behind it but agreeing to this partnership is a clear statement that the BEF do not believe women should be treated equally. The pride posts and "support" for the LGBT community is clearly fake and for publicity because why would you partner with an organisation that does not believe this group of vulnerable people deserve human rights or to even breathe? This is a clear statement that the BEF do not believe the LGBT community should be treated equally. Disabled? The BEF are making a statement that they support the medical model which supports the degradation of disabled people, this is a clear statement that the BEF do not believe the disabled community should be treated equally. This is nothing but a cash grab, the BEF have shown that they do not give a damn about the esports community or the ecosystem that so many are working their absolute socks off to make a thing. Esports is for EVERYBODY. It's not like traditional sports that has clear limitations for safety, every single person reading this can get involved in esports in a wide range of different areas and thrive, there is NO BARRIERS. I can literally name multiple companies worth massive amounts that want to be involved in esports who are in the UK and would get behind british esports because they want to see it grow and exceed all expectations, to be an activity, job, ESCAPE for so many people in the world that might have nothing else. Why are we looking at a country like Saudi Arabia for investment. The fact this has gone through shows that the BEF is corrupt at the top, they are in no position to be a dominant factor to the success of the UK esports ecosystem and they're doing more damage than good by chasing a bag like this. This is a chance for everyone who wants to see esports succeed to make their voice heard against people who do not care about esports and are just in this for their own personal gain. Absolutely every single person that knew about this and sat there, said nothing and allowed it to happen is COMPLICIT. I feel extremely sorry for those that had ambitions to make a change through this initiative and the directors of this company have just spat in the fact of everyone who believed in them. BRITISH esports should be about BRITAIN and supporting everyone to achieve their full potential, whether or not that's through working in the industry, education, content creation, events, or anything you want to do. These people DO NOT SUPPORT YOU and never will. 🏅 #GREATSport 🎮 #Esports 🦁 #BritishEsports 👎 #DownWithTheBEF

Denying human rights organisations, discrimination against women, criminalisation of the LGBT community, just to name a few. Then there's the fact they spend billions on events and partnerships such as this to deflect the attention from the lack of human rights. Even if you were to ignore all of these things, Saudi Arabia has absolutely no right to be involved in the British Esports in any way and by announcing a partnership like this it completely invalidates all of the things that have been pushed by them in "support" of things like pride and the @WomenIn_Esports initiative. This screams that they care more about a big paycheck than the wellbeing of the esports ecosystem which is the complete opposite of what a national body should be doing.

Last month we said our farewells to Dan @DaPowerOfGlory Brooks! He was instrumental in bringing success in Esports to QMC. From furthering the department, to managing the QMSamurai teams, including a championship winner, 2 finalists and 2 other trophies! Best of luck
