You see this life ehn… especially if you’re doing business in Abuja, please don’t look down on any customer. Don’t ever size anybody. Yesterday, a man called me. He said he needed five duvet sets. After the call, he asked me to send him a message on WhatsApp so I could show him available designs. I did, he picked five, and paid that same morning. Before I even got to the store, everything was already set. When I got there, I arranged his exact bed size based on what he told me and sent everything to him that afternoon. Later that evening, after I had already closed and was at home, he messaged me. He said he tried one, but it didn’t fit his bed. He even sent a video. Now, I knew I had given him exactly what he asked for. But instead of arguing, I just told him, “No problem, you can return them and this was after I made him understand that what he told me was his bed size wasn’t right.” This afternoon, I stepped out briefly in front of my shop, and I saw a man in a suit walking towards my store with two security men. My heart skipped 😅 I was like, wait! What is going on? He got to me and asked, “Are you the owner?” I said yes. That was when he said he was the one who bought the duvets. Omo! He didn’t even send a rider o. He came himself. He told his security to bring them from the car, and we went inside. He returned four (he kept one for his kids), and I showed him other options in his actual size. He picked two. This man was so calm, so friendly, you won’t even believe his level. We even gisted small. Before he left, he said he now knows my shop and will keep buying from me. Then he brought out 15k cash and dashed me. Just like that. After he left, my neighbours were asking, “Ogee, who's that?” I said, “My online customer.” See ehn, if I had formed an attitude yesterday, or started arguing, or disrespected him because I felt I was right, this story would have been different. There’s no small customer. Whether it’s 1k or 1 million, treat people well. Be polite. Handle issues calmly. This social media space provides us with opportunities to talk and meet people whom we would not have ordinarily met.
