1st ball of the 3rd over:
Virat Kohli drives one for four. Right after that, Travis Head tells Pat Cummins to keep bowling outside off because “Kohli will nick one to the slips.”
2nd ball of the 3rd over:
Kohli responds with another boundary, stares at Head and says, “You come bowl then, I’ll smash you out of the ground.”
4th ball of the 3rd over:
Venkatesh Iyer hits a four, and Kohli fires another one back at Head “If you’re scared to bowl, then sit in the dugout as the impact sub like you always do.”
After the 5th ball of the 4th over:
Venkatesh had already launched two back-to-back sixes and a total of 22 runs in that over. Head was visibly frustrated with the constant verbal battle from Kohli, and instead of replying directly to him, he allegedly made a personal remark towards Iyer, calling him “more feminine and girly than an actual girl” because of his batting style.
That comment crossed the line completely and made Kohli furious. When Kohli ignored Head during the post-match handshake, many inside the camp felt it was fully justified. There’s a difference between competitive banter and disrespect. At the end of the day, standing up for your teammate and maintaining self-respect matters far more than maintaining a temporary public image. 👏
