US Senator Jamie Raskin called for the immediate release of Palestinian pediatrician Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, stressing that he is being held in an Israeli prison without charges, trial, or due process. Raskin pointed to reports that Abu Safiya has been subjected to torture, warning that the unlawful and horrific conditions of his detention are putting his life at risk.
Israeli forces arrested Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, a pediatrician and director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, on December 27, 2024, during a raid on the hospital. Kamal Adwan Hospital was one of the last major hospitals operating in northern Gaza during periods of the war.
Since his detention, Abu Safiya has been held under Israelโs "Unlawful Combatant Law", which allows for administrative detention and its renewal every six months without formal charges or a public trial. His detention has exceeded 18 months, amid reports of torture and mistreatment.

Mostaganem in Oranie, Algeria.
Beginner children from the Mostaganem Art and Activity Association sing the song that Andalusian refugees brought with them to Mostaganem six centuries ago:
The sun of the evening has already set,
and my eyes have overflowed with tears
from the separation,
upon the twilight. When it was hidden, it inscribed
and the loverโs longing increased. Even the birds
have sung and hummed,
mourning over the leaves.
O sun of the evening!
Linger, do not disappear, by God, gently.
You have stirred what is within me,
until you increased the longing in my heart.
Have mercy on me,
for in the beautiful one I have increased my love.

End of the French crimes in Algeria:
In the picture, we see how the French tried to de-Islamize and de-Arabize Algerians by forcing them into apostasy.
Now? The French language is slowly being banned from Algeria!
Article published today in the Algerian press:
Because young students cannot absorb two languages at such an early age French to be dropped in third-year primary, English to remain
By Nachida Kouadri 2026/07/14
Discussions around reforming the primary school curriculum are no longer just deferred pedagogical recommendations โ they have taken on an official, serious character reflecting a genuine desire to bring about a "pedagogical revolution" aligned with students' interests.
In this regard, it has been decided to adopt the teaching of only one foreign language in the third year of primary school โ English โ instead of French, after it became clear in practice that students at this young age cannot absorb two foreign languages at the same level.
According to details highlighted by Echorouk's sources, this direction โ backed by recently circulated official indicators โ is not based on arbitrary, unstudied considerations, but rests primarily on reports drawn from the national symposium and solid scientific arguments grounded in studies of children's cognitive and psychological capacities in the early stages of their schooling.
The central argument underpinning this new approach is "the child's absorptive capacity" at age eight (third year of primary school). Reports confirm that forcing a student at this early age to absorb two foreign languages at once (French and English), alongside their mother tongue (Arabic) โ in which they have not yet solidified their writing and grammatical skills โ often produces entirely counterproductive results that limit their creative and academic abilities in the years to come, as our sources explain.
The shock of two languages at an early age
On this basis, our sources noted that it has become clear in the field โ through teachers' repeated hands-on experience and their constant contact with students โ that over time, students can experience what is technically known as negative "linguistic interference." This can lead to mental fragmentation, making them more prone to various language problems such as "linguistic overload," where the student is unable to distinguish between the rules and pronunciation of two languages that share the same Latin script, mixing them up. This negatively affects their grasp of core academic subjects like mathematics and science, ultimately causing them to lose their natural enthusiasm for learning.
Betting on one language to enable multilingualism
From this standpoint, the same sources emphasized that students urgently need to focus and build a solid, stable foundation in one foreign language first โ "the stronger assumption points to English" โ before opening up to other foreign languages in later educational stages (middle and high school), by which point their cognitive structure will have matured enough to absorb multilingualism without "confusing interference." This is the pedagogical strategy expected to be adopted by the ministry in the future.
In the same context, the sources affirmed that this move to limit primary school to a single foreign language โ English, as an essential and living global language โ in place of French, is dictated by a comprehensive scientific reality driven by the demands of the modern era. This vision can be summed up in two key points.
The first relates to the flexibility of language structure: modern linguistic studies agree that English grammar in its early stages is more flexible and easier to absorb compared to the deep grammatical and morphological complexities of French, making it easier for children to pick up without excessive mental strain.
English as a key gateway to modern technology
The same sources also stressed that this choice clearly aligns with the strategic direction aimed at generalizing English as a foundational subject for engaging with the sciences, advanced technologies, and artificial intelligence โ fields overwhelmingly dominated globally by the language of "Shakespeare."
"Pedagogical boldness" as the roadmap for the next generation
In conclusion, it appears the school system is entering a phase of "pedagogical boldness," where students' cognitive and psychological wellbeing is the sole, decisive criterion in charting the "roadmap" for the next generation. Once this direction is officially implemented on the ground, the education system will undergo a radical shift that reorders priorities in favor of educational quality and modernization, away from cognitive distraction.
It's worth noting that the Minister of National Education, Mohamed Seghir Sadaoui, had addressed โ at the start of last April โ the issue of foreign language teaching at the primary level as foundational for the middle and secondary stages. In response to questions from members of the National People's Assembly, he affirmed that having third-year primary students learn two foreign languages simultaneously poses a challenge due to the similarity in letters and word pronunciation.
The minister noted at the time that specialized studies recommend starting with only one language, then introducing the second language in the fourth or fifth year after students have acquired the basics โ especially since the current curriculum, following recent reforms based on the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, respects international standards and allows room for cultural and sports activities alongside academic subjects.
It is worth noting that, for the first time in the history of education, it was decided to introduce English in third-year primary classes starting with the 2022/2023 school year, which was later formalized by presidential decree for the following 2023/2024 school year โ a decision accompanied by the opening of a primary-level English teaching specialization in higher teacher-training schools, in order to resolve the "hiring crisis" in the medium and long term.
During that period, voices grew louder calling for the elimination of French and keeping only English, in order to avoid confusing students' minds and thereby raise their comprehension levels โ and, on the other hand, to embody a sovereign policy of shedding the colonial legacy.
Public authorities are working to reduce French's presence in the education landscape in favor of strengthening and supporting Arabic, and adopting English as the first foreign language at the basic and university education levels โ especially after a decision was taken to ban the teaching of French curricula in private education institutions, in addition to introducing English at the third-year primary level.

Israel is accelerating settlement expansion across the occupied West Bank with hundreds of millions of dollars in new funding.
According to Israeli media, Israel secretly approved $370 million for new settlements and signed a separate $2.3 billion deal to build 12,000 housing units.
The funding is part of a broader campaign to expand settlements, infrastructure, and control over occupied Palestinian land.
