@RutgersAltRoute A2 cont: required me to change my originally planned lessons but was an important factor to be addressed. Make sure students understand that bullying comes in many forms and that they also may not realize how they may be making another student feel #teachered #safeschools

@RutgersAltRoute A2: do not be afraid to discuss and learn about bullying directly. Do not act like it is something that does not happen. Address incidents as soon as they are seen before they can escalate. In one of my third grade classes, we had to have several bullying interventions. This...

@RutgersAltRoute A1: the biggest thing I stopped in my classroom is laughing. No question or response should be laughed at by any students. I also make it a point to say things students may find surprising to start a conversation to break the ice for students. In PE laughing at another students..

@Kafkaesque83 @RutgersAltRoute I have also struggled with students not staying on task. My school uses Hapara so that I can monitor what students are doing on their chromebooks. I am also able to close out tabs that are not relevant to the class or freeze their computers. Maybe that would be helpful to you?

@RutgersAltRoute A2: In my school, all the kids are issued Chromebooks. It sounded great ... until I actually tried to teach a classroom full of 6th graders taking every opportunity to play games on their laptops. In the end, I had them shut them down and put them away. #TeacherEd #EdTech
