Serious question here: if most tables at a show have basically the same cards for the same prices ("because it's market value") then what incentive do I even have to buy? And even if I do buy, what makes me buy from one person over another?

@PeakHobby I got some ETBs, booster bubble and knockout collection pre-ordered today. Prices, although comparatively high still, weren't crazy high and I don't have the time nor interest to try to wait in line to MAYBE get it.

@Crypticfreaksc1 @Target @Walmart Greed never sleeps. Stopping it is insurmountable but putting these measures up certainly makes it harder. And more likely that us collectors actually get stuff. I've also lobbied to the stocking companies for employee anti-collusion policies.

@DadsStuff11 @Target @Walmart Targets in my area have been stocking in their own for a couple weeks now and it hasn't kept stuff on the shelf. There is just so many people buying Pokemon right now

@PokeTCGiveaways I think this is the new technique of card companies to load up the first release to drum up hype then the next wave is flat. I remember seeing God pack after God pack with Chaos Rising release. Now look at it....It's fallen lower than Perfect Order!

@PokeTCGiveaways Congrats to the kid but I don't think this is an error. I've been noticing for the last couple releases that wave 1 seems to be unbelievably loaded with God packs and such. And then it all died off.

Jaxton traded away one of his Eevee cards to our possible foster placement so she would have one. Out of his kindness, I let him pick out a card he wanted on eBay. He picked out a Mega Dragonite and had been patiently waiting for it to arrive. It did tonight! ☺️

Privileged? I work hard for my money. 45+ hours a week. I am exhausted. The little peace I have is when I get to have fun opening Pokemon packs. I’ll take all the hate on this post minus someone calling me privileged. I am beyond grateful to be in this position financially.

Technically the person recording needs the consent of everyone on camera. Typically at shows I’ll have people ask me if they can take pics of my boxes and I give them permission. Now if it’s the event organizer they typically have the wording written in that they can record or take pictures to promote the event. When things were pretty rough between my ex and me she had someone take photos of my table at a show to submit to court. The even organizer was not happy when I told them that so they added signs around the show stating recording was not allowed without permission. We had a security guy at those shows ready to go if the person that recorded came back because they took photos of minors without permission so that could have become a huge offense.

@Paul_Lesko Legitimate ? here: With the new craze of vendors live streaming at card shows, does the event organizer, vendor, or anyone need to disclose to show attenders that they will be on camera? Or does my attendance in the event count as consent even without a disclosure?

Spot on! I echo this frustration: both with the inability to get cards at a reasonable price for my son and also with those who criticize.
Greed will never go away. But let's start making moves to get rid of these multiple hour lines, backdoor shenanigans, etc.

I've seen a lot of unnecessary comments, so let me defend this person. 1. If you waited hours in line to get product, don't shame someone for paying market price. Not everyone can camp overnight or stand in queues. 2. I hunted for 2 hours yesterday and found 3 boxes total. Over 20 stores near me were sold out by 10 AM. 3. Empty shelves and no MSRP product available doesn't mean someone should miss out on enjoying the hobby. 4. Is buying from a GameStop at market really worse than buying from Facebook Marketplace or eBay scalpers? Because you know.... Walmart, Target, and Best Buy do the bare minimum to prevent any of their product from easily finding itself on those sites. 5. If people had this same energy for shelf clearers, raffle ("waffle") flippers, and actual resellers, maybe more product would be available. But I see some of y'all enter waffles at 150% market for recently released products but then blast someone for buying two boxes at GS. Some of us have jobs. Some of us have families. Some of us can't burn PTO to chase Pokémon cards. Before criticizing someone for buying two boxes at market to OPEN, maybe look at your own role in the hobby first.... Because I assure you, many in the comments criticizing OP are more of a problem than OP.
