"He’s just sore because I beat the crap out of his fa**** boy. Someone is off their meds this morning... Some of us "Boomers" are doing both — enjoying our retirement and giving to our children. Worse, you’re using the data in a very slanted way — the same way the feminists you often debate try to paint all men as being in power and part of “the patriarchy.” They take the reality of the top 1% of men throughout history and act like that applies to every single man. You’re doing the exact same thing here.... You’re trying to make that 19% apply to all Boomers, when it’s only from the small percentage of Boomers who are considered affluent/high-net-worth. That 19% comes from Charles Schwab’s High and Ultra-High Net Worth Investor Survey (people with over a million in investable assets, with a cut out for those with over $10M in investable assets; so that is a small fracking subset of Boomers...). In that same survey, 45% of those wealthy boomers said they want to enjoy their money for themselves while they’re still alive. Even then, 73% of them still plan to pass on wealth after they’re gone. Could it be that the majority of high-net-worth individuals across all generations have already provided for their children in other ways — just like Warren Buffett explained when he was asked about leaving his money to his kids? The cruise ship picture and the “millions of boomers refusing” headline push the same lazy stereotype. Boomers as a group hold a huge share of the wealth, but it’s heavily concentrated at the top. A lot of regular boomers are already helping their adult kids with houses, college for the grandkids, or just day-to-day stuff while still enjoying retirement. Longer lifespans and real healthcare costs also change the math for a lot of people.

Boomers are the first generation in history to basically not give the slightest damn about leaving any wealth for their children.
