It is high time the ruling elite in #Pakistan got their act together and worked for the economic improvement of the country so that it may never return to the IMF and achieve economic stability. Unfortunately, #CorruptPakLeaders are incapable of change. @Razarumi

#Pakistan’s tax system is regressive—burdening low-income taxpayers—and more than half of its taxes are indirect. Agriculture sector is not taxed properly and agri-based products account for 60% to 70% of the country’s exports yet its share in tax is only 0.02%. @KhurramHusain

Successive govts have failed to make any structural reforms to bring #Pakistan out of the vicious cycle of borrowing. Over the years, it has been running a budget deficit of more than 8%, for which it requires additional financing in the form of taking on new loans. @Razarumi

Only when Pakistani politicians are forced to channel heavy investments into human capital, education and health will the Pakistani workforce be able to produce high-value products. Short of this, #Pakistan will remain stuck in the familiar boom-and-bust cycle. @iamthedrifter

#Pakistan's medicine manufacturing is highly import-dependent, with almost 95% of drugs requiring raw materials from other nations. For most drug manufacturers, the imported materials are held up at Karachi port due to a shortage of dollars in the banking system. 1/2 @Razarumi

However, it is likely to be a non-starter because those whose sacrifices can count don’t want to make any and are only interested in passing on the financial burden to the common people in #Pakistan. @husainhaqqani 2/2

There is a need to bridge the gap b/w income & expenditure by conserving financial resources. The so-called committee on suggesting "austerity" measures set up by PM may submit its recommendations to slash salaries, perks and reduce the size of govt. 1/2 @Razarumi

#Pakistan presents a case study of population mismanagement and disproportionate growth. Despite its potential demography, with a whopping 64% youth, the country failed to capitalise on its human capital. 1/2 @husainhaqqani

A failing economy cannot be in anyone’s interest. But whether or not the government and opposition accept that the political costs of their strategies outweigh their presumed advantages, the country will continue to bear the cost of unending confrontation. 2/2 @Razarumi

The greatest cost to the country of the present political confrontation in #Pakistan is that it creates an unstable and unpredictable environment detrimental to efforts to heal an ailing economy. 1/2 @YousufNazar

The ruling elite piles on the misery of an unsuspecting public, which only accentuates the inequality and disparity between those who have power and privilege and those who don’t. 2/2 #PakistanEconomyCrisis @kaiserbengali
