@RobinPoedev We're not talking about a hobby here. You *owe* people something. Kickstarter campaigns aren't just a fun "Can I borrow some cash as a friend?" thing. You *should* approach it professionally, and to insist that this is a ridiculous notion comes across as you don't care.

@RobinPoedev I mean, when people paid you to do something, I think you owe it to them to keep them updated on progress and reassure them you can deliver the product. Acting unprofessional and fighting with people on Twitter while going a year without an update isn't reassuring.

@jeweledbox Honestly, I like to think that how we portray ourselves online is an expression of ourselves. In a sense, an avatar or even an icon is "us", because like our irl appearances, it's expressing who we are. I like the idea that VR allows you to play with that and look how you want.

@dirk_the_slayer @tyrranKPX ...why does it being Zelda mean something in it can't have racist influences? All that means is that the game is a product of culture. That's like saying "REAL Pokemon fans can't call Jynx in gen 1 a racist caricature!" When there's a reason it got officially censored.

@Nattay03 @doggsul Yeah pretty much. I'm hoping that since we'll be stuck with Chapter 5 for a while, that it tries harder to play with the gameplay a bit more, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Don't get me wrong, I still love the gameplay, but I think it could be doing a lot more lol

@DailyDelphox @doggsul Ch 2 took so many steps towards making Deltarune feel like, for lack of a better phrase, a REAL game, with a recruitment system, the arena, deeper item mechanics, and Castle Town as a hub. It really sucks that 3&4 largely abandoned this (you only visit the town ONCE between BOTH)

I was excited to read a criticism of Deltarune because, as OP says, it's something you *never* see online but it became clear that any and all valid criticism is immensely overshadowed by how much OP just hates the game

@doggsul Unlike Undertale, Deltarune has SO much going on that it can toy with, and does *to an extent.* The optional fights in Castle Town ARE fun, and I do like some of the fusable items and item skills, etc. But it remains pretty static, and sparse. Make it feel like a full FF lol

@doggsul I think my biggest criticism so far (and I say this as someone who LOVES it), is the RPG mechanics feel underutilized. Items with abilities, party members with skills, different equipment, an optional arena, item synthesis... A lot of it just feels neglected.

@ImagesDeltarune We don't know exactly how an evil version would've looked, and we can't say whether it would've been better or not because of that. But it's so easy for our minds to take an interesting idea and make it *sound* more appealing. What's in our heads will always seem more appealing.

@ImagesDeltarune Toby already went through this thought process. Queen WAS initially more evil, but he just ended up liking the new version more. I think it's just a case of the grass being greener on the other side. It's easy for your imagination to fill in the blanks and make it sound better.

@last_krismas It actually started in January, but translation work ending in April seems to be a bit ahead of what they were doing last year. And you are right about it only being one chapter. Dunno how long it'll be, but a bit later than last year, so July-September most likely.

@ners_xd I don't think it'll release in the first half of 2026 of course, but I think that's mostly because, if we compare the pace they're at to last year's, a July-September release seems most likely. They seem to be on good pace so far, and we can't assume testing will take longer.

@ners_xd It's hard to say if it'll be faster or shorter. Toby never said they considered 3&4 to be rushed, regardless of what you think of the final release. And there's arguably more *to* test with 2 chapters opposed to 1, so thinking it'll take longer isn't necessarily true.

Chapter 3&4 were ABSOLUTELY rushed and you shouldn't use its development timeline as a reference (see pic) + The fact that toby explicitly said Ch5 will get "heavy" testing, and that there's no deadline this time makes me think they'll spend a lot more time on it (WHICH IS GOOD)

@RobinPoedev Idk, I feel like that wasn’t what Nerrel said. I’m pretty sure he covered all different perspectives and leaves it at that “it’s complicated.” I don’t even think he said that that’s how modern N64 games should be, just that it’s something people do- which is just true.

they are the product on a lack of information and technical constraints, & actually cant be unshackled from that context without divorcing them from their identity. to me its almost revisionist to try, and gives new players a faulty picture of the past/the appeal of these games.

@Garrulous64YT His backstory is actually the same. It was never that he lost his squad- the comic The Rise of Infinite showed he had his bleak world view before meeting Eggman. The game just does a terrible job conveying his character. It’s all there if you look, just awful in execution.

Best thing about Infinite coming back is he actually has a fitting reason to be insanely edgy now. Before, he was written so blandly his backstory worked against him since it was almost entirely off screen (the loss of his squad & work for Eggman) The edge feels earned now.

@Infinit36212965 @wg_alen I think there were mentions of cloning in the original script, but not much other than that. Amy does have that strange line about how "Infinite being brought into the world", but even in old scripts that didn't make sense with the clone angle. Projection fusion makes sense

It’s finally been explained what happened to Infinite after his defeat in Sonic Forces. Eggman was the one who took away Infinite’s power. Infinite’s last words were to Eggman, telling him that he could still continue to fight.
