If you’re a guy who pulls wool in NYC and you leave that bubble the real world comes at you fast. California girls have far different expectations than Brooklyn transplants from Iowa.

Would I move to San Diego? No. Too many people with perfect hair, great bodies, but somehow have zero urgency? Everyone looks elite, but no one’s in a rush to do anything. Feels like a permanent Sunday afternoon lol. Fun to visit. Dangerous to stay. Very cool city though!

This war isnt what they say it is. It is a shadow war between two global factions. One faction who wants Iran to exist as it has and another who seeks to destroy it. Not because of weapons or threats of violence, but because it is a country that dark money can flow through.

Gold is down from $5600 to $4270 per oz Primarily over the last month alone. That's fucking weird. Gold doesn't fall like that in a regular war. This isn't what they say it is.

@MajestyRia That’s the crazy part to me… US can win this war in a sense of bringing it to an end but what does American morale look like 10 years after what people have seen so far

China & Russia continue showing interest in developing Africa especially in times of war... When Russia hit Ukraine, it interrupted grain imports to a few African countries, so Putin delivered wheat for free & cleared their debt & Russian secret service protects Burkina Faso President Ibrahim Traoré after he successfully kicked France out & also sold his military the weapons needed to protect their nation. Now China makes a move to strengthen trade agreements with the entire continent while their friend Iran fights the opps. If the war continues for months or years, many nations will suffer but at least Africa as a whole will be expanding their markets. Meanwhile, the U.S is destroying its relationships with the Arab nations in the region for Israel & they’ll be doing new deals soon. Iran is West Asia. “The Middle East” is a European concept. Above Asia is Russia & to the west is Africa. We can debate & critique the ethics of it all but just looking at the facts, What becomes of this story in 20 years? 50 or 100 years..

🇨🇳🌍 While Trump builds military coalitions and bombs the Middle East, China just made its move. Wang Yi announces: zero tariffs on 100% of African imports, effective May 1st. Every single African export enters China duty-free. No conditions. No military bases required. No regime change demanded. The U.S. is spending billions on interceptors, carrier strike groups, and bombs. China is opening the largest consumer market on Earth to an entire continent.

NYC and Chicago mob construction bros are chill, Philly and Boston not so much
Michael DiMercurio@MikeyDiMercurio

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE NEW YORK MAFIA People have the wrong idea about the Mafia. Yes, the Mafia exists. It is alive and well in NYC construction and in union projects across the land. Have you ever heard of bid-rigging? That's where there are only 5 contractors who can do a job, and when the drawings go out for a construction bid, the contractors all get together for scotch and cigars and figure out whose turn it is to get the contract. Let's say they decide Gabagool Concrete gets the civil work job, by the decision of the 5 contractor owners. Now, it's important that Gabagool get the maximum amount of money for the job. So they need to know the exact budget the project owner has for the work. In my case, the budget was $5m. But the FORECAST was only $4m. A million under budget. Happi-NESS! We'd underrun the budget and those funds could be used elsewhere, where the project was hurting. So I put the drawings out for bid. Every contractor bid $5.1m except for Gabagool Construction, who bid exactly $4,999,999.00. Or, you know, $5m. I tried everything to get the cost down. Nothing worked. All my tricks that worked in open-shop areas failed. Eventually I told my boss - who was friends with all the contractors - I was going to award the work to Gabagool for $5m. To this day, I'm not sure how the contractors got the budget figure. Maybe they rooted around in the dumpster for printouts of the cost report. Maybe they tossed a redheaded hooker at the project controls engineer. Maybe my boss himself hinted to them. But it didn't matter. I was a million clams over forecast, and the home office in southern North Dakota at Hoople was not pleased. You have to understand. The $4m forecast? It assumed the work would be let at $3.5m and there'd be $500k in change orders, to total end-of-the-job costs of $4m. So I'm terrified of what change orders Gabagool Construction is going to give me. There was some drama along the way. See, the owner of Gabagool was under federal indictment and he was under house arrest with one of those ankle monitors, with suit-clad feds in his house. So he'd dispatch his only begotten son to the project to see how things were. Now, the son was an idiot. I'm not saying all second generation guys who inherit companies are idiots. But this one was. He'd come onsite in this gigantic Hummer, not the H3 version for normal people, but the YUGE H2, which was only driven by drug dealers and megalomaniacs. And he'd never wear hardhat, safety glasses or steel-toed boots. I got tired of his antics and threw him off the site, with instructions to the gate guards to keep him out. Then, since Gabagool was mobbed-up, I waited to be poured into concrete. I was in an unhappy marriage at the time. I wouldn't have minded that much. But never a word. I suspect Father Gabagool agreed with me that his son was an idiot. The guys who showed up to do the concrete? Not one spoke English. I know what you're thinkin. Nope. They were all from SICILY. And they were all master craftsmen. You have never seen concrete like this. Everything they touched was a work of art. A gigantic mass pour under the turbines - a big pour like that always has low spots that pool rainwater, and eliminating that is always an issue. Not with Gabagool. That concrete was perfect. And change orders? Yeah, we revised the drawings three times and added scope. We awaited the change order demand for a month. Nothing. End of the job, we saw the Gabagool guys demobilize their trailer, trucks and tools. The foreman waved good-bye. They presented their final invoice and release of claim. No change orders. Zero. Zip. Just pay the contracted amount. I became a big fan of Mafia contractors that day. That was until the death threats in Philadelphia. But that's another story.
