Crews are responding to a human-caused fire 5 miles northeast of New River near West Point Mtn. The #PointFire is est. at 100 acres. 1 Type 6 engine & an initial attack crew are working their way to the fire in rocky, difficult terrain. The fire is under investigation. #TontoNF

PHD - #BadgerFire and #SkeletonFire Updates - Badger Fire is holding at 32 acres. Skeleton Fire grew overnight and is now 3,032 acres. Crews continue to work these fires in remote parts of the Agua Fria National Monument northeast of Black Canyon City. #AZFire

We are aware of an active brush fire burning East of the I-17 and North of Black Canyon City. The fire is outside of our service area and is inaccessible by fire apparatus. The appropriate agencies are aware of the incident and are responding.

A family with 2 small children avoided tragedy when they were woken by smoke detectors last night after an exhaust fan caught fire. This is a reminder of the importance of working smoke detectors. Change batteries every 6 months and replace detectors that are more than 10yrs old.

*UPDATE* *CLOSURE* I-17 northbound is now closed near Sunset Point due to the vehicle fire at milepost 252. Expect delays and seek an alternate route. There is no estimated time to reopen the highway.

Evacuate/GO! MCSO is evacuating 136th St to 144th St to Dove Valley Rd to Tonto National Forest a due to the Boulder View Wildfire. Info at Maricopa.gov.
