@JasonSokol3 @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 It's not something the films call out but it's there imo. Reminds me of Matthew Stover's Klan Dooku chapter in the ROTS novel where he talks about how it was a big xenophobic conspiracy having the Separatist leaders all be aliens.

@DakDimensions @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 Obvs the Maul stuff serves as a far more literal interpretation of the concept, but it sort of funny how in the mainline films the ‘race wars’ led by ‘anti-government terrorists’ morph into the majority-alien Separatists—occasionally I catch heat for ‘reading into’ that detail.

It's interesting how George Lucas' description of his sequel trilogy is similar to a lot of stories he'd developed for Clone Wars. Not just the Darth Maul stuff but the Mandalore arc and other minor elements and story beats. Not something people really talk about but it's there;

@giovni0 No I've not seen this before, seems dubious without a source. But Lucas did talk about Luke training the next generation of younglings as backstory for Episode VII. Maybe we would've gotten an Avatar Way of Water esque prologue to compliment the opening crawl.

@JasonSokol3 @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 Indeed. The whole thing about gangsters taking over the government was something Lucas would come back to in TCW with Maul taking over Mandalore.

Like, the concept of Uber-Maul sending his understudy to lead a pirate army 40 yrs after the whole ‘insolence’ debacle He’s still like closing his eyes and gripping the bridge of his nose

I always felt him dying behind a cockpit felt more natural for his character than being impaled on a lightsaber. We do know that Battle of Coruscant concepts were created for VII.

Lucas made it quite clear I thought that the sequels were about the grandkids plural. Han's death is a mystery though.
