@DakDimensions
I generally post about Star Wars; it's production, concept art, design and lost media... sometimes. I am not a droid.

@JasonSokol3 @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 It's not something the films call out but it's there imo. Reminds me of Matthew Stover's Klan Dooku chapter in the ROTS novel where he talks about how it was a big xenophobic conspiracy having the Separatist leaders all be aliens.
English

@DakDimensions @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 Obvs the Maul stuff serves as a far more literal interpretation of the concept, but it sort of funny how in the mainline films the ‘race wars’ led by ‘anti-government terrorists’ morph into the majority-alien Separatists—occasionally I catch heat for ‘reading into’ that detail.
English

@giovni0 No I've not seen this before, seems dubious without a source. But Lucas did talk about Luke training the next generation of younglings as backstory for Episode VII. Maybe we would've gotten an Avatar Way of Water esque prologue to compliment the opening crawl.
English

@DakDimensions Hey I stumbled upon this comment under a TikTok video and I’m curious have you ever heard about this before? I know you’re pretty well versed on Lucas’s sequel treatments so I’m curious

English

@JasonSokol3 @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 Indeed. The whole thing about gangsters taking over the government was something Lucas would come back to in TCW with Maul taking over Mandalore.

English

@DakDimensions @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 I do like the idea that Maul’s various TCW misadventures are comprised entirely of a series of failed ‘trial runs’ that he would eventually fine-tune 40 years later
The greatest teacher, failure is, or whatever
English

@JasonSokol3 @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 It does go back to Lucas early drafts involving Darklighter and his Sith Pirates that he'd trained in the ways of the Bogan.
English

@DakDimensions @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 And again, trading the pirates for the troopers is such a massive downgrade. Like, the concept of Uber-Maul sending his understudy to lead a pirate army 40 yrs after the whole ‘insolence’ debacle
He’s still like closing his eyes and gripping the bridge of his nose
English

@JasonSokol3 @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 There sadly isn't much sequel work in the book. I was pleasantly surprised some Duel of the Fates concepts made it in. But there's not a ton for TFA and Doug was barely involved in TLJ.
English

@DakDimensions @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 Thanks for the heads up, though, I may have to track this one down
English

@JasonSokol3 @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 Also from the Doug Chiang book. He talks about showing Episode VII concept art to George.

English

@JasonSokol3 @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 Or more specifically there was a Doug Chiang concept in his new book of Star Destroyers on Coruscant and Phil Szostak specified they weren't created for Ep IX but Ep VII
English

@JasonSokol3 @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 Maybe there was just a general idea of him dying in some epic battle either at the end of VII or IX. I always felt him dying behind a cockpit felt more natural for his character than being impaled on a lightsaber. We do know that Battle of Coruscant concepts were created for VII.
English

@JasonSokol3 @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 Just what his death originally was in Lucas outline. Though I'm not sure his death being in the original outline was ever confirmed I just think Ford wanting Han dead in ROTJ means a return would imply his death is guaranteed. But idk.
English

@DakDimensions @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 Wait, I missed it—what’s the ambiguity around Han’s death?
English

@JasonSokol3 @HassanS74069276 @AGuyWhoTweet5 That's a nice nod to Maul's codename in the TFA art book
English

@HassanS74069276 @JasonSokol3 @AGuyWhoTweet5 Yeah there were definite story beats. Lucas talked about them in the SW Archives book of course. I do believe Skyler was always the son. Lucas made it quite clear I thought that the sequels were about the grandkids plural. Han's death is a mystery though.
English

@DakDimensions @JasonSokol3 @AGuyWhoTweet5 But then him saying Han’s death wasn’t as clear cut and Skyler was the son in some versions, some things were less set in stone but there was a story.
English

@HassanS74069276 @JasonSokol3 @AGuyWhoTweet5 But that probably just comes comes from fleshing out the story rather than being to entirely different versions.
English

@HassanS74069276 @JasonSokol3 @AGuyWhoTweet5 I think you're onto something there because it goes back to what I was saying about Pablo's book mentioning that Kira's age was 14 in the outlines but she was 20 something in the script. So there were some discrepancies.
English

@HassanS74069276 @JasonSokol3 @AGuyWhoTweet5 I did rewatch Rick's video on the sequels early last year. I know Kurtz made some incorrect statements.
English

@HassanS74069276 @JasonSokol3 @AGuyWhoTweet5 Luke training his sister wasn't a Kurtz thing was it? Or perhaps I'm conflating it with the idea of the sequels being Luke searching for his sister who wasn't Leia.
