I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the secret to understanding poker is experimentation. Most people lose curiosity once they’ve built a framework that seems "good enough". They stop testing assumptions. They stop calibrating. They fall back on using their existing worldview to explain what they see, rather than using what they see to update their worldview. (This applies to most things btw) x.com/tombos21/statu…

Stuff I wish I knew when I was younger: 1. Doing something poorly and consistently is better than doing it in a world class manner occasionally 2. Other people tell you to take risks bc they want to see what happens or have a free option if you win not bc they think it’s a good idea 3. Most people don’t think about you at all. But some people think about you a lot. If someone who is a baller takes an interest in you for no particular reason just run with it. One trick to vastly improve your relationship outcomes is spend time w people who like you (not ppl who ignore you or treat you poorly). 4. Everything in your life you can categorize as 1) addictive 2) enjoyable. And if you do a bunch of non addictive enjoyable things it’s quite likely you’ll be happier. If you stop doing that basket you’ll burn out, predictably 5. It’s a lot easier to deal directly with negative thoughts than it is to deal with the life circumstances generating them and most of the time you can actually deal w the circumstances more effectively if you’re not tilted 6. Most of the economy is a cartel defined by proximity to central banks, the government, and a small elite. The reason “contrarian” ideas work isn’t because they’re good. It’s bc they’re “king made”. It’s decided in advance who is going to win. You need to decide if you’re going to play or not. There is no halfway 7. Being mad about the system being rigged is a waste of time it’s a lot better to just bet on it, or invest with that as an edge bc most people aren’t blackpilled enough. 8. Most studies - especially social science studies have criminally low r sq or poor methodology. Such that most things you read online don’t actually work. At the same time - your own response to things is fairly predictable. So if you find something that works - you can just go back to that - a lot more easily than optimizing something new 9. Life getting worse after 30 is a scam. Actually - it might genuinely get worse for most people. But it doesn’t have to. The people who most loudly tell you what you need to be happy are the least happy people 10. Over time your outcomes are mostly determined by the quality of your network, your investment rate of return and your tax rate. But every once in a while you can do something non linear that can be a home run. It’s best to do non linear things during asset bubbles or when you have a hot hand. It’s not a good idea to do non linear things when there isn’t strong investor appetite for risk taking 11. Your behaviors will tell you stuff you’re not dealing with. If you’re overeating or sleeping poorly it’s probably bc there’s something you haven’t acknowledged or faced or are putting off 12. As you move towards a singularity , accelerating progress or a purported societal shift the predictability decreases - rather than increasing. People are the most certain at maximum acceleration when the very nature of acceleration or complexity suggests they should do the opposite. If AGI is coming start thinking 1 week out not 3 years out

The Krissy fold take are 😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️ Funnily enough maybe the way it should have concluded is with Felipe folding his last 2bbs after half the table went all in! FWIW - I’d half stack as Felipe - Call/fold as Elton - Fold as Phil - Call as Krissy Most likely 3 of the 4 players should have done something different, but results orientated people love to just pile on the one who “got it wrong” However I’m sitting after a good nights sleep with 0 consequence. Not on the back end of 20 days of million dollar swings with no sleep and heavy jet lag playing in one of the biggest spots of my life with a clock tick ticking in my face. Almost certainly calling QQ would lose more money than KK makes calling. Every player at triton last week would have been a pip off here or there, however of course high stakes poker is all about execution in this spots and being precise. Krissy is great, the fold wasn’t. Likely most people in the hand could have done something different. High stakes is not full of robots. Humans make mistakes, that’s ok, just try and make less than others.

Let's assume hypothetically this took 15 years and all alternate jobs pay equal compensation and no benefits. What is a job that you think you'd enjoy equivalently to Tuborg's job?
Patrick Leonard 🫡@padspoker

The grinder of ALL grinders. Tuborg123455 is approaching almost 1 MILLION tournaments played. To put this into context, if you played 20 tournaments, in 4 sessions a week for 10 years you’d “only” have 45760 games. 🙇‍♂️

A nice woman from OH who explained to us she rarely plays, usually plays slots but her husband insisted he put her in, showed us pictures of her grandson, just called a river bet with top boat: she opens the button, pads is the sb and hems and haws, says he doesn’t wanna upset her husband by busting her before dinner break etc etc and ultimately just calls. Pads tells her to check it down, she complies and then he stuffs it in her face on the river.

Dear Community, First of all, thank you for the incredible support during yesterday’s launch. Within the first 60 minutes on the new software, we reached record-high traffic levels. The response has been overwhelming, and we are genuinely grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us. Yesterday, a report shared by @wolfsec0x0 raised questions about potential security risks. We immediately escalated the matter to our technical team for review. After an initial assessment, the team confirmed that there were no backend vulnerabilities and no security risks affecting player funds, accounts, or core systems. However, we did not want to rely solely on an internal review. Before addressing the community publicly, we chose to speak directly with the player who raised the concerns to ensure that every point was thoroughly examined. He kindly provided a detailed technical breakdown, which our team reviewed in depth and responded to without delay. The confirmed findings are as follows: • There has been no threat to player data, funds, or backend infrastructure at any time. • Certain highlighted items relate to frontend elements and legacy code that is no longer active or in use and are not connected to live systems. These are now being fully removed as part of an ongoing cleanup process. • We are continuing to communicate directly and are open to further independent testing beyond the original scope. For transparency: our software currently runs on a hybrid architecture using both Unity and Electron. The core and majority of the upgraded system is built in Unity, which provides performance improvements and enhanced functionality. Certain interface components remain in Electron where it is technically more suitable. The underlying fundamentals are secured and optimized within the Unity framework. Security is not a one-time checkbox. It is an ongoing process. We are committed to constant improvement and continuous review. Our objective is clear: to build and maintain the most secure and safest online poker platform in the world. We sincerely thank @wolfsec0x0 for taking the time to raise these points. Constructive and independent feedback strengthens the product and ultimately benefits the entire community. We encourage everyone to continue sharing feedback. Honest input helps us reach the standard you expect and deserve. We will also financially reward anyone who is able to highlight an security optimization points - please always reach out and keep sharing your feedback. Finally, we will also address adjustments to our rake strategy in a separate, detailed communication shortly. What we can already say: our long-term direction is to ensure the lowest effective rake paid by players. You are the heart of the pokercommunity, and we will always make sure that players have a partner-site to really trust and have beatable games - This is one of our core principles and you have our word on this. We hear your feedback clearly and will respond to it transparently. Thank you again for your trust and support. The CoinPoker Team

proud dad of a newborn for 3 weeks now. almost exactly matches when i started using openclaw. both flipped my life in the best possible way from completely opposite ends of the spectrum. hard to imagine pushing my work forward without agents. i'm a trader, a speculator, no passive income, no safety net. without these tools and the people behind them, i'd be drowning. instead i have a full family life and i'm still getting ahead, because of the quality of work my AI assistants do for me. from that angle — thank you @steipete for changing my life. and not just mine. my family's too.
