Great job by @ajc on the autopsy of an effectively moribund ATL OIG. Seems pretty clear AD doesn’t want to an active, aggressive IG. That $500k to a non-profit and $2m to a woodworkers’ group both have a bad odor.

We recovered a bottle that didn't break!
From Bryan Capps, Jr.: "Fresh out of the dirt at the 185 Mitchell courtyard (in what would've been an alley behind 187 Mitchell), a tiny Jacobs' Pharmacy bottle, likely c.1910-1920. At this time, Jacobs' Pharmacy was operating at the W corner of Whitehall & Alabama St (the old Payless building, at right in the photo below)."

More than broken glass in the mud. This maybe our most significant Atlanta find yet, also from behind 171 Mitchell, and also unfortunately broken by the excavator: a Globe Flower Cough Syrup bottle, which contained an early “medicine” concocted in the 1870s by none other than John Pemberton, who only a couple of years later invented Coca-Cola at his Five Points drugstore…and the rest is history. Another great find by Bryan Capps, Jr!
