@DallasDexter71 @MichelleMSU9824 You may want to see how many RED states have these mandates, as well as RED state governors who echoed the same damn thing, WAY before Mamdani did. You people are terrible at educating yourselves. But, by all means, go on about what'll happen if we elect "these types"......

Hey New Yorkers! My A/C is set on 68…and guess what? When I go to bed it will be on 65. This is America. You pay your own bills. Don’t fall for socialist propaganda! 🇺🇸

So many stupid takes on this. When the grid is stressed, we need to reduce power consumption. Climate change is stressing our infrastructure. It isn’t enough to say just bring on more capacity. First, we have excess power in the queues that are stuck there because of policy that is beyond the control of the mayor of a city. Second, what kind of power we bring on to meed demand matters. More fossil fuel plants will only make the situation worse because it is a result of fossil fuels. Third, what I see here are a bunch of antisocial idiots who are unwilling to do their part to keep hospitals powered, to keep granny alive in her nursing home, to keep emergency services operating. Grow up people.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

New York: it's hot out there, and the power grid is working overtime to keep us cool. Set your AC to 78 degrees, turn off lights/electronics you're not using, and unplug what you can. Our City is doing its part too: maintaining the 78 degrees rule in our buildings, dimming/turning off our lights during peak electricity demand, asking private partners to do the same, and powering down non-essential equipment. A stable grid means the AC stays on, and lives are saved. Let's ease demand — and get through the heat — together.

Offsides in the box will continue to be the reason why soccer will be so darn hard to get into. If half the touchdowns in football we’re overturned on a technicality it would be unwatchable

@ErinUnderwood @MichelleMSU9824 Trump talks about getting nuclear dust important- why ? We have satellites that indicate movement at site(s). We can destroy whatever moves anytime needed. So this need to retrieve is ridiculous. We re playing games to allow Israel to achieve "THEIR" goals. Trump is trash

Now that's an idea I can get behind. We keep wasting money on the most BS nonsense when our roads, bridges, and energy infrastructure are literally crumbling. We're building ballrooms, and now apparently scrapping the famous cherry trees for a fancy schmancy golf course. It's really aggravating to see our money poured down the drain constantly for things most people will never see, touch, or benefit from.

@ErinUnderwood @MichelleMSU9824 Exactly, Trump has ruined this country and most will never recover. Introduced tariffs that paused interest rate cuts. Then starts a war that elevated oil/gas - now everything is rising rapidly. Funny how when GOP wins, we re 2hrs away from nuclear annihilation. Gr8 job GOP.

Of course, we're in America. 🤷‍♂️ Or at least I am. Anyway, my town's power grid did go down yesterday. My house, luckily did not lose power. However, a huge part of my town did go into a black out. If you are rich and own a Tesla, you're probably just fine for a couple of days. Your refrigerator, maybe not so lucky unless Elon starts making Smart Fridges. LOL. If you start a blackout with a full battery, I'm sure you will be nice and cozy living in your car. Money does solve a lot of problems.

Dear Karen. It's people with this mentality that cause blackouts. You're basically choosing your cold comfort above a reasonable decision of even keeping your temp at 72 or 74 so that your neighbors will not lose power and the ability to cool their houses. You want to solve the problem? Please help to get the power grid updated.

@MichelleMSU9824 If you want them to upgrade the electrical grid, you're gonna have to strain the electrical grid beyond its current capacity. So, pump up that AC new york. This is how you protest peacefully.

1. Mamdani is right - when there's a risk of a power outage, don't be a selfish asshole and keep your AC at 68 and risk losing power 2. You will actually survive if your AC is at 78 for a few days until the heat wave passes - you'll be OK trust me 3. How is this controversial?
