Van Halen Album Ranking from Worst to Best #1: Van Halen (1978) Van Halen reached ALOT of incredible heights during their career. Sold millions of album, gains millions of fans, and gave us some of the most iconic name and faces in Rock history. But…and this is JUST my opinion…I feel like they were always chasing this album. When we talk about capturing lightning in a bottle. This is one of those albums. Everything coming together perfectly. A band that came out, not trying to search for a deeper meaning. But just plugged in, cranked the volume, and ROCKED! It’s just something that cannot be replicated. From the opening bass line crunch of Running With The Devil, you KNEW this was going to be different. Then we get Eruption. Introducing the world to Eddie Van Halen, and therefore changing countless lives. Followed by what I think is a PERFECT cover song. They didn’t change the formula. They just gave You Really Got Me another identity, one all their own. Ain’t Talking ‘Bout Love is SO DAMN CATCHY. I’m The One has one of Eddie’s BEST riffs! I wanna jump down to Atomic Punk, perhaps my FAVORITE VH song of all time! That scratching guitar opening gets me EVERY TIME! Feel Your Love Tonight sounds like something you’d hear in 1985… except seven years earlier! This album is pretty much perfect. No bad songs no bad moments. This album is essential for a reason. It’s one of the greatest Hard Rock albums of all time. And perhaps the greatest debut album of all time. So naturally, it had to be number 1! 😂
