Today, I re-filed Jaime’s Law in honor of 14 year old Jaime Guttenberg, who tragically lost her life in the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas. Jaime’s Law seeks to close the ammo loophole by requiring background checks on ammunition purchases.

Sine Die. Grateful for this team and the work they put in throughout Session. Casey kept everything running smoothly in the office, and Varun, Emily, and Sophie did an incredible job as interns this year. They showed up every day ready to work and serve our district.

We’ve just wrapped up the penultimate week of the 2026 legislative session. From voting on bills all week on the House floor to budget talks between the House and Senate, Team 96 has all the latest updates from the Florida State Capitol.

Art. 4, Sec. 5, of the Florida Constitution: When elected, the governor, lieutenant governor and each cabinet member must be an elector not less than thirty years of age who has resided in the state for the preceding seven years.

Once a bill clears committee, it heads to the House floor. Questions, amendments, debate, and a final vote by the full 120-member House. Here’s what that process looks like.
