Opening an old school Italian restaurant. Family place. There’s no advertising, no credit cards accepted, there’s not even a menu. You can have what we decide to make that night. The wine will be good, espresso comes with dessert, and the food will be out of this world.

@DanDonatoV Hopefully your own writing brings you to a home with similar views one day! When I look at these old estates, I definitely dream of building a home of similar beauty for my family one day.

I'm excited for this. The French and Indian Wars (4 of them) are fairly untapped yet ripe for storytelling: high adventure, high stakes, old enemies, fought by exceptionally tough men on both sides. My soon to debut book series is set during the 2nd one (Queen Anne's War).

@Byzness Oh man I gotta dive into this one…. Just did and the last male of the family, Theodore, was a privateer aboard the Charles II with the soon to go rogue legendary pirate Henry Every serving as the ship’s first mate. Amazing.

@BBHerodotus Amazing and brings to mind in Washington Irving's home in Tarrytown NY there's a bookshelf full of Sir Walter Scott's books and since they were close friends I imagine there's handwritten notes by Scott to Irving inside them. I'd love to know but naturally you can't touch them.

1/3 🧵Lets end the week and head into a changing of the seasons with a look at another dolmen. Staying in Ireland, the Brownshill portal dolmen (Dolmain Chnoc an Bhrúnaigh aka Kernanstown Cromlech) is a massive example of neolithic engineering.

@Clint_Davey1 Braveheart has a lot of historical inaccuracies but it's one hell of a good film. Fantastic story telling, it's impossible to watch without it provoking deep emotion within you.

When I say I like Mel Gibson as a director, I'm referring to Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto, not Braveheart.
