I agree with you on principle. In the United States, alcohol and criminal activity are usually linked. In practice, not so much. Prohibition didn't work out, mostly because it became an unenforceable law. It's much more effective to help people see the connection between alcohol, depression, poverty, crime, and then encourage them to choose for themselves to not drink.

Yeah. Here’s Paul’s explanation of the Gospel: 1 Corinthians 15:1-4: 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: According to Paul, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints preaches the same Gospel he preached.

The fact that Mormons believe God was once a man who died and came back to life is still mind boggling to me

Literally D&C 93:11–14 11 And I, John, bear record that I beheld his glory, as the glory of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth, even the Spirit of truth, which came and dwelt in the flesh, and dwelt among us. 12 And I, John, saw that he received not of the fulness at the first, but received grace for grace; 13 And he received not of the fulness at first, but continued from grace to grace, until he received a fulness; 14 And thus he was called the Son of God, because he received not of the fulness at the first. Another ignorant Mormon.

Faith without objective truth is just a lie you tell to dupe yourself. Name one objective truth about the Book of Mormon that is independently verified.

Your prophets sure are ignorant according to you: Joseph F. Smith (6th President of the Church): “Even Christ himself was not perfect at first; he received not a fulness at first, but he received grace for grace, and he continued to receive more and more until he received a fulness.”

Now you're reading your 21st century understanding into it. As far as we're concerned, God has always been God and has always existed. So has Jesus Christ. Romans 8:17 clearly states that we are join-heirs with Christ, and heirs of God. If we're "joint-heirs" with Christ, then it appears He stands to inherit something, thus being the Firstborn of the Father, set to inherit all God has. The idea that Jesus is on some "Eternal Progression" is, once again, an ignorant take.

@DanShaha @PetGorilla How can your Jesus be an ‘heir’ to God who is immortal and omniscient? You’re saying that your Jesus is on a heretical ‘eternal progression’ and isn’t fully God, then your Jesus isn’t God and Mormons are not Christians.

Maybe read the article before you post it: In the patriarchal order, the firstborn son is the heir and inherits the leadership of the family upon the death of the father. Jesus Christ is heir to All His Father has, and can rightly be called the Firstborn of the Father. The idea that Jesus is a created being is false and ignorant. The idea that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are not Christian is also false and ignorant.

@reformatrix @PetGorilla I still don't see the lie. I agree, the Bible does testify of Jesus Christ, His birth, life, death, and resurrection. So does the Book of Mormon. These events have been independently verified.

The Insufferable Calvinist
@DanShaha @PetGorilla The Bible testifies of Jesus Christ, His birth, life, death, and resurrection which are all independently verified facts, no BOM required! Also, it is all about 2,000 years old instead of 200.

@DavoustBaldPate @PetGorilla Incorrect. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints doesn't believe in created beings. Jesus Christ has always existed.

@DanShaha @PetGorilla Ignorant. The JW Christ is not the Christ of the Bible and the Mormon Christ is a created being not born of a virgin.

@DanShaha @PetGorilla We don’t need the silly book of Smith to testify to his ridiculous “Jesus” when we already have a book that does that without any help whatsoever.

How is testifying of the Birth, Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ wrong? The post asked for something from the Book of Mormon that is independently verified. The Birth, Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ fits that bill; These things are independently verified, and taught in the Book of Mormon.

@HonestYPTweets Your use of the word "cult" in reference to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints demonstrates ignorance. To have the word "cult" to apply to the Church requires a definition broad enough to apply to any religious organization, including mainstream Christianity.

Moroni chapter 1: 1 Now I, Moroni, after having made an end of abridging the account of the people of Jared, I had supposed not to have written more, but I have not as yet perished; and I make not myself known to the Lamanites lest they should destroy me. 2 For behold, their wars are exceedingly fierce among themselves; and because of their hatred they put to death every Nephite that will not deny the Christ. 3 And I, Moroni, will not deny the Christ; wherefore, I wander whithersoever I can for the safety of mine own life. 4 Wherefore, I write a few more things, contrary to that which I had supposed; for I had supposed not to have written any more; but I write a few more things, that perhaps they may be of worth unto my brethren, the Lamanites, in some future day, according to the will of the Lord.

A Sealing is an Ordinance that binds persons together for Eternity, usually as family units. Marriage, as we understand it, is an institution designed to build families and ensure the organized continuation of mankind, in accordance with God's plan for His Children. You can be married, but not sealed, and/or sealed without being married.

@pimomormon That’s cool. We all have the ability and obligation to choose what we believe and why. I believe because my life is objectively better now than it was when I didn’t believe and doubted my testimony.

No big deal guys: if you’re super poor your tithing is super tiny. It’s not like it matters if you don’t have enough to feed your family. Your grocery list is going to be super tiny anyway.
Sola GPT ✝️@Sola_GPT

@pimomormon Yes all commandments matter If you are super poor your tithing is super tiny And if we didn’t believe god could reward faithfulness in keeping commandments we wouldn’t be Christians

@pimomormon Technically, you’re corrrct. An organization is not a diety, but a diety can establish an organization to administer religious rites. God has established The Chirch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as His organization to administer His Gospel.

They’re one and the same; The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints IS Gods Kingdom on the earth. You covenant with God to give all to build up His Kingdom. My point still stands; tithing isn’t about resource contribution, it’s about a willingness to buy in and build Gods Kingdom on earth. If you’re not willing to part with 10% to help build Gods Kingdom, you’re not ready make and keep sacred Covenants, including consecrating all to building Gods Kingdom.
