I have come to realise that a lot of people don’t understand the concept of filmmaking/storytelling.

This thing you people do to Nollywood filmmakers isn’t nice. You don’t give them grace. You dismiss anything they put out even before the release date. Meanwhile, you lots will hype international filmmakers who don’t even give a damn about you. It is well

Bros, nobody is saying it has to be a documentary. But when you're making a story set in Nigeria, about Nigerian characters in a Nigerian prison, basic realism matters alot my friend, especially for something as visible as the uniforms. Hollywood changes details, yes. But they still ground their worlds properly. Gotham is fictional, but when they shoot in Chicago, the police cars, streets, and institutions still feel American. They don't put NYPD in LAPD uniforms just because "it's fiction." In Nigeria, Correctional Service inmates have specific colours: orange for convicted, lemon/yellow for awaiting trial, etc. It's not obscure info , it is public and easy to research. So changing it to something completely different (fitted long-sleeve styles that don't match our system) breaks immersion for the audience that knows better. Artistic licence is real, but it shouldn't mean "anything goes." Good fiction respects the world's logic. See let me add here, If we keep accepting "it's just a movie" as excuse for every avoidable error, Nollywood will keep struggling to compete globally. Attention to detail is what separates good storytelling from "local content."
