"Chaim Bloom strikes again." @ErikKratz31 on Bloom building up the Red Sox farm system and then taking them now with the Cardinals via trade.

Like this move. Consistent hitter on a good contract that helps solidify the lineup. Dobbins being the headliner is a little bit less than I would’ve expected. Need to keep adding to the lineup.

First baseman Tyler Austin and the Chicago Cubs are in agreement on a one-year major league deal, sources tell ESPN. Austin, 34, is a former top Yankees prospect who has been a star in Japan for the last half-decade, hitting .293/.377/.568 for the Yokohama Bay Stars.

.@Jared_Carrabis has heard the Diamondbacks could be willing to go up to 6 years on a deal with Alex Bregman. Whether that’s guaranteed or 5 with an option, we don’t know. Via the latest episode of @Section10Pod.

The Red Sox Are Set To Meet With Pete Alonso On Tuesday And Let's See If This Organization Is Actually Serious About The Offseason s.barstool.link/c/article-3558…

Breaking: Sonny Gray traded to Red Sox

“While murmurs around baseball keep suggesting it will be almost certain that the third baseman opts out of his deal, some in the organization still believe there is a good chance he stays.” - @bradfo on Alex Bregman’s opt out

This was a fun Red Sox team, but I’m infuriated by the missed opportunities. They had a legitimate shot at the World Series—if the front office hadn’t alienated their superstar hitter, gotten nothing in return for Devers, and been more aggressive at the deadline. Red Sox fans deserve better. The front office put too much stock in unproven rookies and took victory laps for their development before they proved anything at the MLB level. It was a small-market mindset in one of the biggest markets in sports. Alex Cora had a great season maximizing the roster and playing the hand he was dealt. But the front office took for granted how rare it is to get a shot at a championship. The Orioles sold their fanbase on the future for years—and now even their future looks uncertain. The same thing can happen in Boston, especially given the business approach of Fenway Sports Group and their investments from private equity. Red Sox fans deserve more.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. was asked if he was surprised about not being in the starting lineup for Game 1 "I guess, yeah"
