This weekend, I (who can barely write HTML) hooked Claude Cowork up to the GitHub, Vercel, and Supabase MCPs and built an app that ingests a big CSV of Peec prompt outputs and classifies them for accurate messaging and positioning using Kimi-K2.5 via the Vercel AI Gateway. Still buggy, but I haven't been so in flow in a long time. This is just so much fun!

if i was the Director of Content Marketing at a $100M+ software startup*, here's how'd i think about AI, GEO, and the future of content marketing: *i am ➖ build a list of the 10 most-cited websites for each of my high-priority topics (Ahrefs' Brand Radar makes this trivially easy). ➖ scale off-site content efforts. this is the era of off-page SEO: our brand's visibility in AI is largely shaped by our brand's presence on respected websites across the web. i'd promote and discuss our content on forums and UGC sites, contribute guest posts, talk about our content on webinars and podcasts, and scale up co-marketing partnerships. ➖ find our most-cited, highest AI-traffic pages, and make sure they're accurate, up-to-date, and reference our most important new features and research. ➖ write simply. use declarative sentences. use BLUF and the pyramid principle. this has always mattered, but i think matters even more today. ➖ create the content LLMs like, to control the narrative: particularly statistics posts, expert quotes, tool comparisons, and original research. ➖monitor and redirect hallucinated URLs from AI traffic to relevant real resources. ➖ review unconventional LLM data sources for accuracy and brand consistency: GitHub, Wikipedia, research papers (e.g. arXiv, PubMed), books. ➖ identify topic gaps where our competitors are mentioned but we aren't (Ahrefs Brand Radar makes this easy). create content, on-site and off-site, to close these gaps. ➖ make big bets on emerging topics (before your competitors). map out a cluster of related subtopics and questions to answer. use PAA data and SERP features to mock up what "query fan-out" might look like. ➖ invest more effort in original, proprietary research. become the source other people cite, and offer information that doesn't already exist in LLM knowledge. ➖ scale AI content creation. AI isn't going anywhere, so we have an imperative to experiment with AI and know its strengths and weaknesses inside out. use it to publish more informational content, newsletters, social posts. ➖ create brand demand. publish more studies, frameworks, and "coined concepts" - 'The Ahrefs Framework for X', 'The Ahrefs Study on Y'. get people searching for your brand, everywhere. ➖ create short video versions of our written content. embed in articles, post on social media, and publish on YouTube (very highly cited by LLMs). ➖ help build the personal brands of my team on social media. encourage them to post regularly, record videos, join podcasts and webinars, find their "niche", and start building an audience who cares about THEIR ideas. ➖ work more closely with PR, brand, and influencer marketing. content marketing has become multi-disciplinary. this is not random musing - these are all backed by research. head to the @ahrefs blog for the studies and research underpinning these suggestions ✌️
