@textingStudios The in-betweens of the Blender process often results in a sort of uncanny valley effect where it's not right but not wrong, just enough to feel off. Feel like people don't mention this enough. Also I forgot I drew this and it jumpscared me on my feed.

I realized something today: the difference between learning Blender and learning Unreal is that Blender makes me feel stupid slowly, while Unreal makes me feel stupid instantly. Unreal is full of things where my initial thought is “Oh, that shouldn’t take long.” Then the entire session gets eaten trying to figure out something like pivot points on an imported sprite. Blender is almost the opposite. I’ll assume something is going to be incredibly difficult only to get it done way faster than expected. The whole low-poly modeling process was like that. I thought it would take me ages, but I managed to whip one up relatively quickly and even get it into Unreal. But now I’m sitting here trying to make hair move like it does on an actual person and it’s not quite right. It’s not wrong, exactly… but it’s not right either. And I think that’s the real difference. In Unreal, or just programming in general really, there’s rarely an “almost.” The thing either works or it doesn’t. You fail and it breaks, or you succeed and it runs. Sure there’s optimization later, but right now I’m firmly in the make it work phase. Meanwhile in Blender I can spend hours making something that kind of works, without ever quite getting it exactly how I want it. This isn’t a vent or anything. I actually love learning this stuff.
