I was in a hospital to visit a neighbor who just suddenly collapsed a few days ago. I was in the waiting area, sitting and watching people come and go. The place smelled of fear and hope mixed together. You could literally touch the pain on people’s faces. I noticed a man standing near the nurses’ desk begging. I watched him wipe his tears a couple of times. His voice was low, but fear enveloped him. His wife lay on the waiting couch, weak. I watched him step aside and sit down. He buried his face in his palms. I walked up to him and asked what the problem was. At first, he did not want to talk. Shame held his mouth. But a man who is desperately in need couldn't hold his pride. Their daughter, a 12 year old, had medical complications. The hospital had tried to stabilize her but without money, they wouldn't go further. But the bill was beyond them. They have been there for 2 days with no treatment. Everyone they called promised to call back but no one did. He had tried everything. He had nothing left. The wife was lying beside him, holding her small phone tightly, staring at the floor. You could tell life had pressed her very hard. She kept whispering prayers under her breath. At this point, I was moved in tears. I have had a similar experience in the past where I watched a loved one giving up because we couldn't pay the hospital bill. Everything started playing back into my head. I stared at him for a while and I asked him a simple question: "Do you believe in miracles?" I watched him mutter words. He couldn't reply to me. Then he began to cry. This time loudly. I held his hand and said, "let's go and see the nurse." He had thought I wanted to join him to beg. I cleared the bill. And then he announced to the wife what just happened. It was a delight to see her screamed for joy. She ran to me, held my hand and cried like a child. She kept saying "God bless you" in a voice that was almost gone. I got a call from them last night to inform me their daughter has been discharged from the hospital, hale and fine. Now imagine what joy has filled my soul. Dear readers, as I type this, my mind is still running through what I saw in that hospital. This family was just one case out of many. If you can, visit the hospitals around you once in a while. There are patients dying because they can't afford as little as the money you spend on frivolities in a day. If you're able to save one person, you save a family.

A must watch!!!—and I thank you profoundly @FansTribeHQ for sharing this touching perspective and also using bringing in my story to buttress the truth of it . I once asked @victorosimhen9 in Istanbul …I said… “Do you have any idea what you have done” ? I went to the Turkish Embassy in Abuja with a Letter bearing my name , from the Vice President of Galatasaray! On reaching Istanbul, it was VIP treatment all of the way! …I couldn’t believe the amount of respect and care he extended to us . But here is the most astonishing part!- Apart from my job as a journalist which made our paths cross at a distance , we had never really met in person !! -The first time we beheld each other..which was in the player’s lounge after the derby …he yelled “Kosiiii!!!…see this man!!!…followed by the warmest of hugs”!!! From then on …he treated us like equals …family and best of friends ! When he took us to see the Legend Emmanuel Adebayor -he told him on the phone “My friends and family are coming …they want to see you” —Astonishing !!! I like to think of myself as a measured man …In Istanbul I tried to stay calm and composed and not rush anything …lest I bite more than I can chew …or make a horrible impression …but Victor never allowed it !!! …Perhaps sensing hesitation and restraint, he will grab me by the hand to his teammates ….making sure we took turns with them …He even took me to his Club’s President Mr Ozbek…to whom he told a detailed story of my commentary work —likened it to the best of the world and promised to share the videos with him !! I found myself locking hands and foreheads with President Ozbek …with Victor Smiling closeby !!!….Chai!!!! We had dinner a few times! —and each time I said to him that I don’t know what these meals are ..he would say .. “just have what I am having…this is what I eat when I come here ..you will love it” !! I am grateful that I have felt for long …like I knew and understood the man ..and the reasons he is as he is !—but my God did being with him up close and personal confirm what an awesome human being he is . People don’t understand how hard it is to grow your career from Port Harcourt!….It doesn’t matter how good you are (and I am good at my job) ….You have to fight 20x more to get a QUARTER of what is available in Lagos for instance. The trip to Istanbul was a blessing …connecting more with Victor …an even bigger blessing! I came back to Nigeria with nothing but gratitude and a resolve to work even harder and better …only to be met with by very disheartening but not strange occurrences … Nonetheless …I am looking ahead gleefully and positively to the future. Among his other ways and vessels … God has again used @victorosimhen9 to bless me beyond measure .

February 9, 2017. We had our 1st meeting 2 days before he shot his first recap video of David’s Access Bank Marathon performance. He didn’t even have a proper camera. He shot the whole thing on an iPhone, & it was amazing. May 16, 2026, we’re at the cinema watching his first movie. A lot can happen in 9 years when you lock in. So proud of you bro. @DammyTwitch
