Social care providers in England MAY face ‘excessive’ profits cap. 84% of adult care controlled by private sector, including private equity. 23% -36% profit margin End privatisation. Better to let only councils and not-for-profits provide social care. archive.ph/dy5oc

And how many water industry executives do you think have ever been investigated never mind prosecuted for all their illegal sewage dumping? Yep, you got it.
Emma Reynolds for Wycombe 🌹@EmmaforWycombe

The arrest following illegal dumping at multiple sites across the country, is a vital step in securing justice for communities. We are continuing to crack down on waste criminals. If you dump waste illegally, we will come after you.

You'll want to be sitting down for this bit. Water companies are currently £82.7 billion in debt, have paid themselves £85 billion in dividends, leak over a trillion of litres of water per year, dump sewage for almost 4 million hours per year, have been convicted of over 1,200 criminal acts since 1989 and an average of 35% of your bill goes on nothing but paying more interest and yet more dividends. And not a single company has ever lost their operating licence. 👇
Prem Sikka@premnsikka

Yorkshire Water and Northumbrian Water have nearly 200 criminal convictions between them. On 6 August 2024, Ofwat fined them £47m and £17m for sewage dumping. Fines not paid, will not be paid. Firms claim to have invested. No penalty for abusing laws leftfootforward.org/2026/01/public…

In 2021, Tory govt froze annual personal allowance (PA) at £12,570. Labour continued with it. If PA increased in line with inflation, it would be £16,048 for 2026/27. As a result, someone earning £20,000 will pay extra £696 income tax in 2026/27 alone. leftfootforward.org/2026/05/the-ki…

MPs are blaming regulator OfCom for the disaster at Royal Mail. This is a red herring. Ofcom can’t fix Royal Mail. To fix Royal Mail, let’s take it into public ownership and run it in the interest of households, not the profits of a Czech Billionaire.

Dear managers: Stop dumping extra tasks on people who love their jobs. 5 studies: Managers mistakenly assume that if you're intrinsically motivated, you'll happily do more without burning out or expecting more pay. Joy shouldn't come at a cost. It's time to end the passion tax.

Today in Parliament, during the final King’s Speech debate, I made it clear: the Right to Food is not charity it is a fundamental human right. In one of the richest countries on earth, no child should go hungry while billionaires grow richer. No pensioner should be forced to skip meals. No family should have to choose between heating and eating. Food poverty is not inevitable. It is the direct result of political choices, austerity and an economic system that puts profit before people. That must change. Our Right to Food Commission report will provide the government with a ready made solution a roadmap to end food insecurity and guarantee dignity for all by investing in our children and the future economy. #RightToFoodCommission

Give A Shit About Nature
Give A Shit About Nature@giveashitnature·
Farmers have figured out that the cheapest pesticide is a strip of flowers. When you plant wildflowers through a crop field, not just around the edge but in strips running through the middle, you get ladybugs, lacewings, hoverflies, and parasitic wasps living in the field instead of visiting it. They eat the aphids, the caterpillars, and the mites for free, all summer long. In controlled trials, fields with tailored flower strips had leaf-beetle numbers 40 to 50% lower and crop damage cut by around 60%, enough to drop below the threshold where spraying was even considered worth it. The flowers attract a standing army to our fields. We spent decades engineering chemicals to kill the insects eating the crop, when the insects that eat those insects would have worked for the price of seed.

Right now, this government has a choice. They can hand over Thames Water to a billionaire Trump mega-donor, so that he can extract millions in profit. OR, they can bring Thames Water into special administration - slash the debts and put households and our environment first. Where does your MP stand? 👇 vist.ly/54t2k
