Husband taken to hospital late last night via ambulance in a pandemic is stressful enough without the added layers of now dealing with return to school earlier than expected. Perspective sometimes helps xx
My kindy kid can’t wait to get back to school. Apparently I make him work too hard 💁🏻 When he’s not rolling around on the floor, he has amazed me with what he has produced. Lots of schema building, modelling, talk 4 learning and explicit instruction. @training247au@JustinCaban_
@Nanabarb99 It’s often not that we don’t want to. Sometimes in new style buildings they don’t open. We don’t have fly screens. Sometimes we have students with special needs who try to put parts of their bodies out the window. Sometimes they are so stiff it is very hard to open them!!!
David Steiner and Jacqueline Magee explain why practicing reading comprehension "skills" like "finding the main idea" is a really bad idea: bit.ly/2HiDYY6
Giant WOW on Danny Steele’s Reflections on Exceptional Teachers.
So many beautiful descriptors of what it means to be an "exceptional" teacher. My wish for 2019? Let's bring Danny's words to life where it counts most!

2019 should see more buddy classes. My stage 3 students enjoyed helping yr 1 with their PBL this year. Creating Models and teaching them how to make iMovies.
@aliceleung Just a thought. Does the school have a polo shirt and culottes/shorts available as part of the regular uniform rather than only a dress? These are great for active play at school.
Thanks everyone for your tips on school uniforms. My current plan is to get 2 dresses and 1 set of sport uniforms for Miss 4 and try to pick up a third dress second hand.
I think this is worth reading. My perspective and practice of teaching beginning reading has changed this year due to some PL and a lot of related reading.
