On my way to Boston for #EPILifestyle23! This is my first in-person conference since the pandemic began. Fun fact: EPI|Lifestyle was the first scientific meeting I ever attended. So happy to experience this year's event with one of my PhD students. @AHAScience

@JulieATippens @doc_thoughts I would second that approach to APHA. It can be overwhelming, but you drop into lots of different types of talks. If you come to IAPHS, I’m happy to awkwardly stop you in the hallway to say hi like at PAA. It’s way smaller than PAS though, so easier to bump into people.

And can’t emphasize our acknowledgments enough- We acknowledge the historical and current work of scholars of antiracism, structural racism, and immigration and thank them for their personal and professional labor in conducting the research that is the foundation of our comments.

“Immigration policies serve as legally and socially acceptable means to exclude individuals seemingly based on legal status while actually reinforcing other mechanisms of structural racism.” Please read more in @mariadashelena and my editorial in @AmJPublicHealth.

@rach_smit It’s hard & definitely ok. I took the time I needed- defended in summer, had a virtual spring graduation (thanks 2020). It was very disappointing. 1 year into my faculty appt - 2 years later than expected - I donned my hood and robe at a 2020-redo ceremony! Maybe walk in spring?
