@diplomatboy22 This is my first time using this app and I'm not impressed. It's difficult to navigate and filter through the messages. I would say Facebook is a faster and easier real-time tool.
I just find it hard to navigate this app I am more comfortable with facebook and I am more comfortable seeing familiar faces of people I know sharing info or just me doing my own research #EMH280Chat
@Moon21phase I agree with this issue being the number 1 problem. Social media is an open source were individuals can post and twist stories in real time. This can cause panic and confusion, especially if EMH officials cannot react in time.
The major challenge that social media presents to emergency managers is that social media can often hype up and cause panic to those impacted by the information being conveyed. This sometimes can cause more harm than good, such as rioting, looting, and protests. #EMH280Chat
Popularity would be based off the local and national populace at the time. We would still utilize multiple platforms to reach the people, but focus on what's being used the most.
Q2: With how many different social media platform options exist (and change over time), how do you choose which ones your agency will communicate through? #EMH280Chat
