The assisted dying bill has just finished its 13th day of Committee Stage today. Both sides now accept the bill will fall, but why is that? Thread analysing the bill's slow pace through Committee. 🧵

EXC - Senior backers of the assisted dying bill now believe it will fall in the House of Lords. It's causing fury among MPs who backed it. Opponents say this is routine for private members bills and supporters should not have misled public on bill's chances.




BREAKING: The Chief Whip in the House of Lords has assigned an extra ten days in the new year for the assisted dying bill to be debated. This makes it far less likely that the bill will run out of time.
