NEW ALZHEIMER’S TEST USES YOUR EYE, TAKES 5 SECONDS, COSTS PENNIES Doctors can now detect signs of Alzheimer’s by scanning your retina—a thin layer at the back of your eye made from the same tissue as your brain. Using a technique called dynamic light scattering, researchers measured how proteins move in the retina. Slower movement = early signs of disease, even before memory loss starts. In tests, the eye scan caught Alzheimer’s patterns before traditional brain scans did. It matched PET scan results in 11 out of 11 diagnosed patients—and flagged warning signs up to a year early in undiagnosed ones. No radiation, no needles, no hospital visit. Just a camera, eye drops, and 5 seconds of staring at a red dot. Source: PsyPost
