Daniel Ritchie

Steve Gaines was a brother in arms to me if ever there was such a thing. He was a colleague, a captain, an older brother, a friend, a mentor. He had a relentless, unflagging, inspiring fixation on evangelism. It stood at the center of everything he did, every venture he undertook, every fight he engaged in.   Many remember his and my intersection in the SBC Presidential election of 2016 in which I pulled out so he could win unopposed. What most people don’t know is that he first insisted it be him to drop out. But it was clear that he was God’s choice for that hour. Stepping aside to serve and follow him was one of the easiest decisions I’d ever made. May God give us 10,000 more like him. We certainly need more of him in this hour. You are loved and will be missed, brother.

Faithful student ministry: - Grounds students in Scripture, not feelings. - Anchors the identity in Christ, not culture. - Builds conviction, not just comfort. - Raises up disciples, not attendees.

On your best days, Jesus is enough. On your worst days, Jesus is enough. Take some time today to remember: you aren’t carrying today - He is.

I was excited to figure out a way to put straps on the sled to push it today! A lot of fitness is difficult, but there’s no reason why it should be impossible. 💪

One of the roles of the pastor is to fan the flame of passion for the Great Commission in the hearts of his people.

The danger of preaching is that you can love the act more than the people who sit under the preaching of the Word. Love the Father, love the people - then love the call to go and tell.

Been in the hospital (Emergency Department) since 7pm yesterday… evidently I have an infection caused by a fistula that worked its way from my intestines to the outside of my abdomen… I’m waiting to meet w/ the surgeon to determine the course of treatment. Please pray for me.
