Until 5 July 2026, the Musée d’Orsay in Paris is hosting an exhibition dedicated to the great Impressionist painter Auguste Renoir (1841–1919), entitled: ‘Renoir and Love: The Joy of Modernity (1865–1885)’.
This exhibition seeks to illustrate Renoir’s words about his work: “I am well aware that it is difficult to convince people that a painting can be truly great whilst remaining joyful. Something charming, joyful and pretty, yes, pretty! ”
Here are four paintings on display:
-1) “La Grenouillère” 1869
-2) “Path Rising Through Tall Grass” 1873
-3) “The Boaters at Chatou” 1879
-4) “Luncheon of the Boating Party” 1880–1881

Antonio Caldara (1671-1736), "Sedecia (1732) - Ahi! come quella un tempo"
Caldara composed this piece for a curious instrument, the pantaleon (named after Pantaleon Hebenstreit, who invented and played it). This instrument used metal strings struck by hammers, probably operated by a keyboard, producing a crystalline, reverberating sound.
It enjoyed a brief period of popularity at the Viennese court before disappearing completely. Few scores survive.
This recording uses a dulcimer, whose sound is very close to that of the pantaleon.

The Italian Ministry of Culture recently purchased at Sotheby's for €12.5 million, this work created around 1470 by Sicilian painter Antonello da Messina (1430–1479).
It is a rare and precious small panel measuring 20.3 by 14.9 cm, painted on both sides: on the main side, an ‘Ecce Homo’, with Christ crowned with thorns; on the other, a Saint Jerome sketched in a rocky and desert landscape.
In its press release, the Ministry described it as a priceless work of Italian heritage.
