Pt. 2 I know he is strong, has the insight and skills to stop a conversation if he feels like it’s too much. My anxiety isn’t so much around him. It’s more about the unknowns. “That day” I sat for hours with so many unknowns and now I’m feeling that again, just at a lower level.

Pt. 1 My husband is gone to the Ontario Crisis Negotiator Conference to share his story in partnership with the man who negotiated his release. It’s the first time he’s travelled to a conference without me. My anxiety is high.

Sending love to his family, friends, coworkers and everyone who mourns his loss. May his memory be eternal!

Talking to my 15-year-old about staying safe at parties and group hangs, especially when there may be alcohol or drugs. I could pretend these things aren’t happening or not let her out of the house, but instead we talk these things through so she knows consequences and impact.

I asked a table of first responders if they thought it was possible for someone to come out of a PSP (public service personnel) career without some form of an OSI - they unanimously said no! They agreed everyone will come away from that career with something. #ptsdawareness
