I’m fascinated about this also. A few years ago he was writing emo rock ballads for teen about suicide and self harm, and now? I wouldn’t be surprised if someone actually thought this was Ozzy’s other son

Everything i see about this guy is like. Hes the greatest studier of what actually makes rockstars. its unfortunate about the .. you know… music part

@JayMoneWrites People still shouldn’t have to pay for editorial services if they are planning to query. That’s the job of the publishing house that buys your fucking book

@JayMoneWrites I don’t understand how any of these people have the connections actually needed to publish a book when they are just giving up after 2 years all the time

@JayMoneWrites The damage AI is doing is coming so much faster than the consequences to the people using AI, it’s so fucking sad

@CantEverDie I can explain. A lot if ppl who don’t know how to cook at home don’t know how to plan for cooking at home either. They buy all the ingredients for a meal & it costs them 60$ bc most of those ingredients were enough for multiple meals. But they didn’t plan for that, so it’s wasted
English

when people say that one meal of at home cooking costs something like $60 dollars i genuinely wish they’d explain what they’re cooking because this is just impossible
megan@chismosavirus
eating at home costing $60 with time and labor and eating outside costing $56.78. alright.

The comments in this thread are so not it. How can any of you expect to have a sense of ANYTHING after three fucking lines?
This is why the industry is fucked. Y’all’s attention spans are non existent, you can’t even read two full paragraphs without losing interest

English

I would. This is the first line in a while that’s made me want to see where it was going, especially from what sounds like a high fantasy, possibly YA.

@Poison_Magus I see it as creative & that’s refreshing bc most stuff, especially works within the same genre, are starting to sound all the same when it comes to author voice. IMO a lot of popular“YA” fantasy novels could be written by the same author, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference
English

@DanielleKoste Reading is so subjective because im thinking opposite 😅? If i picked the book up, id likely read at least a chapter or two, but this opening line is not doing it for me. Theres something jarring about word choice and the sentences i cant pinpoint.
English

@postler It does feel like the original post itself was made with ill intentions (maybe the OP wasn’t clear, but it does read that the intention is that this opening isn’t very good in their opinion) and people rose to the call unfortunately
English

@DanielleKoste Ah ok that makes sense & proves once again the timeless adage #PeopleSuck
English

@postler This is a published novel from my understanding, that a reader posted without the authors consent. So really, the author wasn’t asking for feedback at all
English

@DanielleKoste Not a big fan of 1st person but 4 me the issue is why do so many writers post on social & not prepare themselves for an onslaught of feedback they may be uncomfortable with? Isn't it better to work with a small group of beta readers you already trust? #amquerying #thedavinciquest
English

@JayMoneWrites I got it also! It was so patronizing
