This method has been around since 1966. This is not new. My entire comment was about the legality aspect and how people are screaming call CPS that’s wild. We don’t just call CPS on people because we don’t agree with their decision for their child. That was my entire point if you don’t like it don’t do it with your kid but again this is not a new method it’s been around for decades. infantswim.com/about-isr/abou…

@BbveaBianca @akafaceUS It’s difficult to watch but better to upset him emotionally and teach him something that will SAVE HIS LIFE if God forbid he ever takes off when her head is turned just for a second (because any parent will tell you that that’s all it takes). An upset child is still a LIVE CHILD!

The amount of people in here screaming call. CPS is so concerning!!!! let me break down the legality of what’s happening here since everyone keeps saying it’s illegal! Distress alone is not a legal classification. The law does not define parenting as abusive simply because a child cries, fears something, or feels uncomfortable. The relevant legal question is whether the parent’s conduct creates a substantial risk of serious bodily injury or causes actual harm. And the law defines substantial risk as an actual or practically certain risk or danger not just the potential for risk or danger. The mother is in the pool with the child, actively supervising and physically following the child while the child floats, which significantly affects the legal analysis. There is direct supervision, there is immediate ability to intervene, and the risk of harm is materially reduced and honestly non existent! Under typical child abuse or endangerment statutes, the state would need to prove that the parent acted intentionally, knowingly, recklessly, or with criminal negligence in creating an unreasonable risk of serious harm. Mere distress, crying, or fear does not satisfy that threshold. Parents are legally permitted to make decisions about how to teach skills including swimming so long as the method does not rise to reckless endangerment or cause injury. When a parent is physically present in the water, monitoring and able to immediately assist, that conduct is viewed as supervised instruction, not abuse. Legally, the distinction turns on risk and harm not whether the child was temporarily upset. And I should note that Calling CPS like a lot of people in this comment section are claiming that everybody should do Is insane and I can tell you right now will end up causing more mental distress for that child than anything this mother is doing to teach the child to swim! But people don’t think about that they just see a situation. They don’t agree with and scream CPS and that’s freaking insane to me. Be better.

@SpencerHakimian The fact that this FAMILY TRAGEDY is going to be used as a political weapon/tool is a disgrace. This was not a gun issue. This was a family issue. This family had MANY ISSUES. And sadly they got put on display in public.
