Municipalities own or oversee more than 60% of Canada’s public infrastructure, and are the closest order of government to the daily lives of Canadians. As the federal government prepares to share more details about the next generation of infrastructure in Canada, it is critical that municipalities join other orders of government in those discussions. Canada’s future growth runs through communities and cities. Smart investments in core infrastructure are critical if we’re going to build more housing, better public transit, and improve basic amenities such as water and wastewater. All orders of government need to work together.
