Bet you were not expecting to see Bing Crosby covering Joni Mitchell today. 123 years ago today, one of the best, if not the best to ever do it, Bing Crosby was born.

@Rex_Karz Al and Bing for sure. Frank (and I love Frank) is Bing. What Frank did differently was the image and a new generation came along. By the 50's, he was done. Then came From Here to Eternity and the rest is masterful history.

@DannyDeraney Every pop singer owes this guy a tip of the cap. Al Jolson, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra set the table for the mega pop star industry as we now have come to know it. Bowie and Dylan knew.

@PeabodyNobis @Cindyloonews and lets face it, those kids had serious issues that went beyond parenting issues. They lost their mom. They were successful as a trio and made money fast and partied hard and often fought with each other in those days.

@DannyDeraney @Cindyloonews Similar to the book about Joan Crawford by her daughter. I kinda got the feeling that the publishers told the kids to "punch it up" so they could sell more books. We all felt mistreated by our parents from time to time as kids, but more often than not it was deserved discipline.

@jwhittenbergK5 I play with a group of 70 year olds. They could not hear it if I even asked if they were okay with it.

That turned out to be overblown. He was a strict father, definitely a disciplinarian, but never did anything for the sake of what Gary claimed which in the end he felt was a chip on his shoulder. I think he was the product of the time, but that being said, I still don't agree with that kind of parenting.

@rodbrooksTV My friend was the Angels accountant (and still is) for the Autry's. He has stories. Also owned a % of the warriors in the 60's. He was in the meeting where Nolan asked play out his in Anaheim, but wanted to stay home when not pitching. Angels said no, so he went to Texas.

33 years ago today, the Five Live EP was number 1 in the UK. It featured two songs recorded from the legendary Freddie Mercury Concert For Life. Somebody to Love by Queen and George Michael was one of them. Simply put, still a banger of a performance
