After 6 years of uni, a decade of working, 2 kids and 1 pandemic, I’m absolutely delighted to officially be a Consultant Geriatrician! I can’t wait to start my job in Doncaster next year! Thank you to everyone who has helped and supported me along the way.

But I’m worried what will happen if we have another 5 years of the same. That’s why I’m voting for change, for the party that created the NHS, the only party who I trust to save it. That’s why I’m voting for Labour

Instead of reminding people of all the scandals, chaos and division over the last 14 years I’m going to focus on something different. The NHS is a wonderful thing and I’m immensely proud to be a small part of it.

Not again! I have NOT given my permission to be used in political adverts. This is NOT an endorsement by me in any way. I maintain strict party neutrality and am unhappy at the weaponizing of my reputation in this way. While this isn't as bad as the first terrible representation – which said it this about tax - there's still a misdirection. As I’ve already stated, in that private conversation I was referring to Labour hoping to make a positive change I’ve been campaigning for, but it didn’t want to lock it in the manifesto as it can’t promise to deliver. NO party’s manifesto tells the full story. ALL parties have things they hope to do but that aren’t in manifestos – as they can’t guarantee to deliver. The idea that Labour is an outlier for that is preposterous.

Yesterday I payed off my student loan, whilst I’m pleased, it’s worth highlighting what a ridiculous and frankly shameful situation student loans have become. A🧵 below on how student loans have become a money making racket, its long term problems and alternatives:

I worked throughout the pandemic as a Med Reg & I found watching #BREATHTAKING very triggering. I think that speaks to how accurately it depicts what the NHS went through. My pandemic experience is distilled into these 3 episodes. Thank you @doctor_oxford for making this.

@leicesterliz @jessphillips @UKLabour As a Geriatric Reg it is so refreshing to hear a plan to improve social care. We cannot improve flow through the hospital without fixing social care. I say ‘fix’ because this government has broken it. Their inaction will cause even greater harm if they remain in power.

Delayed discharges are a tragedy for patients and their families and they aren’t good for taxpayers either. New research from @UKLabour shows thousands of people died in hospital last year because they couldn’t get the care they need at home. See more here channel4.com/news/governmen…

Thank you to the independent for sharing my story and giving me a chance to say why the NHS is so important to me: The NHS gave my dad his hearing back and saved my mum’s life. It’s a revolutionary policy that proves humans really can care for each other. We must fight for it.

Sunak tells MPs Govt accepted recommendations of pay review bodies "in full". Erm, not on junior doctors it didn't. Pay review body recommended a higher level of pay than planned in a multi-year deal. Instead Govt stuck with 2% pay rise. Ballot of junior drs underway now. #PMQs

@RishiSunak It doesn’t HAVE to be cuts. Business Fraud costs £20bn a year. Go after that. Tech like Amazon / Google owe us £1bn a year. Go for them and backdate it. Name and shame the companies that cost us £9bn in useless PPE, or who defrauded Furlough Scheme by £4bn. (1/2)
