There is absolutely nothing wrong with what Peter Obi did here. Showing respect to your elders and mentors should not be mocked. In my culture, we do not prostrate. We do something else, called Dakun or Dakunle, where we kneel to greet Ogiame and our father. Nevertheless, I have prostrated flat three times in my life, twice because I respect the other person's culture, and once out of love and loyalty to a friend and brother of mine in the Tinubu administration, whose culture it is not, but who I just had to honour because of our bond of friendship. Each time I have met President Bola Tinubu, I have publicly prostrated myself before him. I have also prostrated flat on the ground to a mentor of mine in front of the Transcorp Hilton in the full glare of the public. Peter Obi respected the culture of his elders, like President Obasanjo, and others. There is nothing wrong with it. As a sitting President, President Jonathan publicly knelt to greet Hajia Aya Dada, the late mother of the late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua. For the act of showing respect, which he demonstrated at the 60th birthday of Distinguished Senator Aminu Tambuwal, Peter Obi should be commended, not condemned. Yes, he appeared a bit awkward when he did it, being that he came late, and the Peter Obi that I know would usually prefer to go early or punctually. So, he may have been somewhat uneasy because he felt disappointed in himself for being late, which in itself is natural and also honourable. But there is nothing wrong with his behaviour here. @MrKestyno123 @Chiazoka_Ibe @renoomokri Please more details on the approval because the last I checked, they were still battling and hoping for Akpabio to get approval for the sea port, infact, people of the state wished he was able to achieve that even if he doesn't achieve anything else under his tenure as a governor

@Chiazoka_Ibe @renoomokri You're either very ignorant or you're just trying to be manipulative. ALL federal approval for the Ibom deep sea port have been approved years. The issue they have is funding, they have not being able to find a suitable private investor.

Dear Bernard, Thank you for your feedback. Are you aware that states can build ports, and that the very Akwa-Ibom state you are referring to is currently constructing a state-owned port known as Ibom Deep Sea Port? Additionally, Ondo, Cross Rivers and Edo states are all at varying stages of building their own state-owned ports. Finally, private individuals and companies are building their own private facilities, including Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who has constructed a port at his refinery and is currently building a deep-sea port that will be the largest in Nigeria upon completion. Other corporations, such as AP Moller, also built private terminals in Lagos. Bernard, please note that ports can be built by your state, and that whether there is a port or not, the Igbos will always be welcome anywhere in Nigeria, as they are a much-loved, enterprising people who are our brothers and sisters. Thanks again, and may God bless you. Reno Omokri Gospeller. Deep Thinker. #TableShaker. Please fact-check me: Peter Obi's business failed woefully in the UK and had to be struck off the books and dissolved by the British Government. But under Tinubu, both the bank, where he has about 10% shares, and his Next Supermarket are thriving. His bank increased its profitability under Tinubu to ₦385.2 billion in the year ending December 2024, compared with ₦124.3 billion in the year ending December 2023. If Tinubu has ruined our economy, as Peter Obi says, why has he not relocated to England to revive his dead business there? Obi should not worry. He will not be detained at London Heathrow Airport, like the last time! #TableShaker

Dear Peter Obi, Instead of spreading debunked lies about President Tinubu's son, Seyi Tinubu, being spread by the factional NANS President, why not put the spotlight on your own son, Oseloka? Honestly, I would have preferred not to say anything about your son, but you crossed the line by attacking Seyi Tinubu. Seyi Tinubu is in the same age bracket as your son, Oseloka Obi. Yet, Seyi Tinubu is married, has a known business that employs Nigerians and adds value to our country's Gross Domestic Product, and was in Nigeria throughout the campaigns, where he played the role of a dutiful son to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. His wife, children, businesses and lifestyle are known to the Nigerian public. However, Peter, if you feel that you can post about Seyi Tinubu, and he is fair game for your political quips, which are meant to divert attention from your inability to respond to Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu's post exposing you, then Peter, where is your own son? Why was Oseloka not by your side during the campaigns? Is there something you are trying to hide? Are you ashamed of him? You should be answering those questions, not releasing a statement attacking a young man in the same age bracket as your son. Reno Omokri Gospeller. Deep Thinker. #TableShaker. The Declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State Is a Step in The Right Direction On the State of Emergency, I praise President Bola Tinubu for being decisive and showing that he has his ear to the ground, feels the pulse of Nigeria and Nigerians, is in charge of his government, and is on top of issues in Nigeria. I unequivocally support the President's action and urge all Nigerians to support the Federal Government in keeping the peace and maintaining law and order in Nigeria. The President's reliance on the Supreme Court's judgment and up-to-date security reports shows that his decision was well thought out, especially as the Governor of Rivers State has shown dereliction of duties, especially after the pipeline bombing. The suspension of the Governor of Rivers, his deputy and his cabinet, as well as the appointment of an administrator who would govern Rivers State under the supervision of the Federal Executive Council, is a most patriotic act. May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

His focus is on preventing NAFDAC from shutting down Onitsha Market after discovering a fake drugs syndicate operating there. This is the same market that IPOB closed for eight weeks last year, and Peter Obi said nothing. We are watching. #TableShaker

The latest directive of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) placing some restrictions on the distribution of palliatives to the less privileged in our midst is disturbing. Even though the directive is a timely response to the series of tragedies recorded across the country recently, and the IG's honest reaction to the challenges of the prevailing economic hardship, it's open to abuse. It is capable of discouraging citizens from helping the hungry and distressed among us. While I understand the need for better organization and more attention to public safety, it is important to clarify that acts of goodwill should not be hindered by excessive bureaucracy. Rather than requiring people to seek permission to assist those in need, we should encourage them to find better, more organized ways to offer such help. The focus should be on promoting coordination, not imposing barriers that could deter much-needed acts of kindness in a time of widespread hunger, pain, and anger. This is not the time to stifle the spirit of compassion and generosity among our people. Instead, let us channel these efforts constructively, ensuring that help reaches the most vulnerable safely and efficiently. The government must also do more to address the root causes of this hardship, providing lasting solutions rather than creating obstacles for those stepping in to fill the gaps created by government’s insensitive policies. I urge the IGP to immediately review this directive and ensure that the police fosters collaboration and support, not division and discouragement, in our shared quest to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians. -PO

On Tuesday the 15th, my journey from Onitsha in Anambra State to Anyigba in Kogi State by road once again underscored my consistent appeal for all tiers of government to prioritize the repair and completion of existing road infrastructure, rather than launching new projects that may not be completed anytime soon, further adding to the growing list of abandoned projects scattered all over the country. The journey, which should normally take around three and a half hours, took us over seven hours. The route through Obollo Afor, Otukpa Branch, Ejule, and Anyigba was exhausting. On the return trip, we took an alternate route via Ogugu and Enugu-Ezike, departing Kogi State around 2:00 p.m. and not arriving back until about 9:00 p.m. – all for a meeting that lasted just 30 minutes. This is my travel experience across the country this year. In the first quarter, I had cause to travel from Calabar to Uyo, a trip that should take about an hour, but it ended up taking four hours. I travelled from Port Harcourt to Bayelsa, thinking I would use the East-West Road to Warri, but it became a treacherous journey. Warri to Benin was a similar experience. In August, I travelled from Abuja to Kaduna, where I spent over two hours on the Kaduna bypass alone. The Onitsha to Benin route was no different. My recent trip from Benin to Auchi and back was excruciating, and one cannot help but wonder. I know these things cannot be fixed overnight, but my appeal is that there should be total commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Nigerian travelling public, rather than launching new projects. The resources should be directed toward improving the existing roads and easing the burden on commuters. -PO

While it is arguable that with the President and Vice President absent from the Villa , there is no vacancy in the Presidency, in a situation where both the President and Vice President are out of the country, as reported in the media yesterday, it's concerning for a country with such myriads of domestic problems. The President had told us he would only be gone for 14 days. The 14 days have passed now, and we are waiting to see him in the country. One would have expected him to return earlier than expected, considering the volume of work that needs to be done in a troubled nation like ours. The untold hardship that has been unleashed on our people as a result of some of his administration's policies is unimaginable and we need his urgent attention to pilot the nation out of this present situation. Again, since the President is reportedly in Paris, France, which is just about 833 nautical miles from Stockholm, Sweden, one wonders why he did not just attend the 2-day working visit to Sweden. He could simply have done it on his way back from France with his new powerful jet, which would have taken him a little over 2 hours. This would have saved time and the very scarce national resources we need critically at this time. Instead, he delegated the Vice President, who needed to travel 3055 nautical miles, over nine hours, and (about 4 times the travel time from Paris) Abuja, Nigeria, to Stockholm, Sweden, to represent him at the event. It would take about 4 times the time and distance it takes to travel from Paris to Stockholm to travel from Abuja to Stockholm. This does not represent the kind of fiscal responsibility and common sense that is expected of leaders whose people are facing severe hunger and poverty. This is the time to show true and committed leadership to the people by making decisions that prioritize the well-being of the people and effective management of the nation's scarce resources in alleviating the sufferings of the people. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Thank you, my dear @oluwaloninyo . Let me sincerely apologize on their behalf. These days, I have learned to avoid criticizing or getting easily annoyed with Nigerians and, in particular, Nigerian businesses, given the harsh and difficult environment they have to navigate. The situation in our country demands that we always apply caution as we try to understand each other's circumstances and factor them into our judgment of them. This should act as a reminder that many are doing their best despite the challenging circumstances and that patience and understanding can go a long way. -PO
