In some ways, "America First" has become for Gen Z a kind of political trans ideology. Trans ideology believes gender can be separate from sex and can therefore be modified according to feeling, and "America First" believes the US can be separate from the world and thrive. This is the result of a clever trick that has hijacked the idea of prioritizing America over globalist or "global cooperation" agendas that characterized presidencies from Clinton's to Obama's. Prioritizing American interests rather than other interests when those are at the expense of America is the right way, but this doesn't mean we can actually divorce the world (as the "isolationists" insist). The trick capitalizes on a mentality of domestic prioritization in order to sell a program of anti-strategic withdrawal from the world stage that only benefits our enemies around the world (think the geopolitical equivalent of Biden's catastrophic Afghanistan withdrawal). America is part of the world and has to participate in it to protect and prioritize its interests. This is where the parallel to trans comes in most strongly. Trans ideology depends on believing the individual identity can be severed from the underlying physical reality of sex, which is kind of an anti-strategic withdrawal from the realities of embodiment to focus on one's own individual interests regardless of reality. The fact is, America cannot withdraw from the world. It is part of the world, and the world is happening out there and to us. China, Russia, Iran, and the enemies of America will not pause in their designs so America can "focus on domestic issues." We absolutely MUST walk and chew gum at the same time: we absolutely MUST engage in both domestic and international issues at once, in exactly the same way as we abosolutely MUST attend to matters of personal identity and our embodied biological realities at the same time. We can prioritize what we engage in differently, but we cannot actually withdraw and only focus on domestic policy. That is a lie. We must engage globally as well, especially given that we're subject to the world not just economically and sometimes militarily, but in our own living rooms through relentless foreign propaganda trying to get us to value the wrong things. The primary target of this manipulation is the United States through its relationship with Israel, which is key to many of the most important things happening in the world today, many of which are in America's direct interests. Trump understand this, but the misled youth don't and are turning on him over it. The objective is to get people to hear the words "foreign entanglements" and associate it with "bad," rather in the same way a socially transitioning youth is taught to hate the realities of her body in puberty. Some of those "foreign entanglements" are actually strategic alliances that makes the world safer and more prosperous, including for Americans specifically. They are strongly in American interests to engage in. Israel's security in the Middle East is overwhelmingly one of those strategic alliances. So rather than helping our young people navigate a very complicated global situation in which America is a huge part, we are flooded with propaganda that's roughly the equivalent of telling them we can "stop puberty." It's not a perfect analogy because global affairs have been a hell of a lot more complicated and "pubescent" than they are today, but not really since the end of the Cold War, which predates all of Gen Z by a decade. Trans ideology effectively tells young people they can retreat from biological reality and choose their own course independent of reality, as if the body isn't really there, and this deracinated, twisted "America First" ideology tells them the same thing but about geopolitical reality. It says we can retreat from the world as it is and choose our own path on the world stage as if it isn't there. That's dead wrong.

Yesterday, similar bad-faith actors deliberately misinterpreted a single word of mine in an op-ed published in a well-known international newspaper. These people have an agenda, and it is not a good one. They are cynical jerks and they behave as such. But for the non-idiots: I abhor political violence—which in the United States, is almost entirely a left-wing political phenomenon. Someone was recently arrested for making threats against me and a few others. I have written countless columns and spoken countless hours explaining why, if political violence metastasizes, it could spell the end of the republic. I unequivocally condemn each and every instance of political violence. But normal people who understand English—or anyone with more than one brain cell between the ears—already knew that. That is all.
