@LaDeric @TweetsByTrip @9thwonder I do not like it. In fact I wish my mf GOAT would not be on the kumbaya shit and put BTA. He’s choosing to opt out and has his reasons. I respect it

The 420 to Hemp Society #NSFW
I was born 2 months and 2 days before hip hop and know what it is suppose to be -- noone can deny Drake has made good records, fine....where the rubber meets the road for me is including him in the GOAT conversations, and trying to regard him has a steward of the culture, or a product of it...he is not that.... ....he has, at best, appropriated the culture, did not contribute ANYthing original to it...he has scoured the regions of the U.S. to buy his way into the culture, and have lyrics written for him that don't fit him at all....the bars are bad cosplay at this point...there is no evolution in his pen, the same recycled content -- he has gotten away with benefitting off of The Machine, which is evident, again, by Spotify skewing the streaming numbers....his greatness is fraudulently injected into this culture...like a cancer. 3 Albums....3 Ls

Your dad is also, the first of his kind. Your dad, is like Me and all the other 50 year old hip-hoppers. We are the first generation of it. MY pops at age 50 called Hip-Hop “Bippety-Bop”, and didn’t listen to it. lol
King of Yap@DapYP

@LaDeric @9thwonder My dad is in his 50s I wouldn’t consider him a fan. His favorite rapper is Rakim and he talks about how dope Drake is. I’m sure he is not the only one. The music is fire. Melody, instrumentation, arrangement vocals. I don’t go to Drake for deep lyricism.

@DapYP @TweetsByTrip @9thwonder No. Kendrick warned him on “Rich Spirit”. “Stop playing with me before I turn you to a song”. After “FPS” he decided enough was enough and mangled him in the streets. Now one of them is playing victim and can’t move on. Good chat. 🫡

@LaDeric @TweetsByTrip @9thwonder Ok he released 18 songs on that album alone. This album OF COURSE is going to be on theme to talk about how the shit affected him. Why wouldn’t it? He’s been in legal battles and loss endorsements plus has been challenged ina way he never has before. Of course that’s the theme

@LaDeric @TweetsByTrip @9thwonder Ok listen I’m gonna play devils advocate here bc I think this is ridiculous but Dot and Drake have been taking shots at each other for 13 years. So did you feel this way when Kendrick dissed Drake two years ago?

@9thwonder Now this makes me curious. Bc my dad was the same way. Only listening to Nas, jay, LL and Rakim with me. Yet I grew and found the artist I like in today’s world. But when you quality control. What about Drakes music lacks quality? Or Cole or Dot?

Key words. I got three sons. You’re a father. There is quality control here…. But for the ones who have no filter lol ….when everyone is walking around with a phone…in middle And high school? LOL… Man listen…
It’s G 💪🏽@GIcee216

@9thwonder Nah nah, I got 3 sons, he’s right… the only way kids under 15 is listening to Drake is if they know someone playing it or it’s played in the house… Not gonna hold you, my one homies 12 year old listens to Guru/Premo/YOU 😂

@murphdogg29 @9thwonder There is definitely sticking power to music that has been released in the streaming era. Espresso is an example. People still listen to this record like it came out yesterday. In hip-hop people listen to Earthquake like it came out yesterday. These records still exist

@DapYP @9thwonder There is no sticking power to the music. It's just a different era. And that's OK. But there are stark differences.

Now …people will listen because it’s everywhere and they have the accessibility. In 1990 music wasn’t accessible to everyone, you had to BUY it, then sit and listen, and unless parents in 1990 were also going to buy LL Cool J…which a few of them were…..the idea of people listening regardless, wasn’t there…
King of Yap@DapYP

@LaDeric @ScoutGuru99 @9thwonder I understand your point here. I’m just saying, if this were the case fr for Drake…he wouldn’t come close to beating Michael’s record here soon. Personally I don’t want to see him beat it. But good music is good music. And people will be listening regardless. Of all ages.

@DapYP @TweetsByTrip @9thwonder Nearly the entire album is dictated by what Kendrick did to him and still crying over losing industry friends (AS ALWAYS). Throwing shots at everyone, but saying nothing worthy of a response. He’s a hurt 39 year old child that has yet to heal and grow up.

@murphdogg29 @9thwonder Great point. Which all music today benefits in numbers from passive listeners. Now, he still has a ridiculous amount of people who will navigate to these albums and press play daily. And they navigate to buy tickets to his show where they will sing every word of these songs

@DapYP @9thwonder It's the easy access to said music. Most of the time folks in the streaming era are not even "listening" to the music. It's background music.

@LaDeric @TweetsByTrip @9thwonder How is he lashing out? He is talking about how it affected him? I didn’t listen to Budden’s full episode so idk what bruh said but like is Drake not supposed to talk about this stuff?

@TweetsByTrip @DapYP @9thwonder No Budden didn’t. On Iceman Drake said that he realizes that he NEEDS to grow. And Budden said that it was Kendrick who helped him come to that realization. The album is still the same immature Drake lashing out like a kid because he’s still hurt over the battle.

@TweetsByTrip @LaDeric @9thwonder I think it is the way it is delivered and the beats like All together not just the lyrics. They mean in totality. But again to my point is why does he NEED to give them that for his music to be considered good?

@DapYP @LaDeric @9thwonder You are correct bro. Anyone who listened to Iceman that's still saying there's no growth either didn't listen or think growth is defined by what they want to hear. Even Budden pointed out the growth and maturity in this one.
