#Filmreview Grizzly night ★★★★ I was expecting a B grade teen creature slasher & what I got was a #BOATS re-enactment Hallmark kind of thing with gore. It really wasn't great but for some reason I was riveted & entertained. No CGI slop either, it had real life stunt bears!

#Filmreview Shelter ★★★ Really nothing new to see here. Statham is a brooding killer forced to protect a young girl while sneaky goverment forces try to kill them. And he still can't act. But the film had a good budget, cast & quality in general, meaning it was actually fine.

#Filmreview We bury the dead ★★★★ Daisy Ridley shines in this Australian zombie film that's really a redemption drama. So it's too slow if you want action, but if you fancy thinking a bit, you might just like it. A great origination conceit too.

#Filmreview The Magic Faraway Tree ★★★★★ An old fashioned, sweet, simple family movie. The original source material is brought nicely up to date, the traumas minor and the ending happy. A refreshing change.

#Filmreview I am a Noise ★★★ #2023 Music #Doco on Joan Baez, my families favourite folk singer. A lot of ground covered but a lot left out too. They had plenty of footage & personal material available. One angle of story felt a tad disingenuous leaving me unsure what to think.

#Filmreview Corey Feldman vs. the World ★★ If entertainment is watching a train wreck then this might be for you. Quite a lot of cringe worthy footage to fill the movie but no real content. Didn't really learn much, no journalism here, best avoided. His fans are special though.

#Filmreview The Hunt ★★★★★ The best film I watched in 2020 so it was due another go. B feels with plenty of splatter & politics on top (sadly still relevant). Betty Gilpin leads & is just hilarious & kicks ass. The big 1 on 1 fight scene ranks with Kill Bill & They Live!

#Filmreview The Girl from Rio ★★★ James Bond styled #1969 thriller(?) is not as sleazy as usual for Jesús Franco & has to be one of his coolest looking movies. Carnival scenes, great costumes, cars & architecture make this worth a watch. But plot? Well nah. Acting? Nah also.

#Filmreview Greenland 2: Migration ★ I loved the cheesy fun original, but this land before time remake was just silly. Tasked with getting from Greenland to France in just 90 mins, our heroes required unbelievable luck & unlimited petrol to do so. Seems there was plenty of both.

#Filmreview Critters ★★★★★ #1986 apparent (but this is denied) Gremlins rip-off is just pure #80s cheese. Aliens in the barn, who seem to vary in size but actually do kill people. So much better with a dash of blood! Billy Zane is even in it. And there are 3 sequels! Woohoo!

Now that Windows 11 paint includes a remove background function, my movie review pictures are attaining new heights of technical mastery. #yeahright

#Filmreview Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry ★★★★ #1974 Road movie, follows all the genre rules you'd expect. Shot on a modest budget but still bloody good. 2 cars - A 69 Dodge charger & a 66 Chevy Impala star & fill the film with stunts & noise. Supporting cast not too bad either.

#Filmreview Can I Do It Till I Need Glasses ★ #1977 Sex comedy based on a series of short skits that are much more juvenile than funny. Instead of #SBIG, this is #SUIF So Unfunny It's Funny. Oh how I laughed in disbelief at the bad punch lines. A quaint time piece of the period.

#Filmreview The Running Man ★★ I had been warned this was medicocre but I really like Edgar Wright at times so wanted to give it a go. It starts really well, cheesey & B & 90's feeling but then it just went on. Shave 45 minutes off & I reckon we would have something pretty cool
