@carolvorders Instead of naming the previous experience needed, name the previous experience barred from standing. Parents who were politicians or Lords. Attended public school (no real life living worries, why control the budgets of those that have?). Worked in the media. And so on

We need a majority of people to know 5 things, which they largely do not:   1. Pollution from oil, coal and gas is heating the earth and causing dangerous weather. 2. All the climate scientists agree. 3. We must move quickly if we are to save a livable climate. 4. There are exciting solutions available right now, most of which save money. 5. Big polluting companies knew, lied, and stopped action. They need to pay to clean up their mess.

@mr_stephen_moss @Peston @FT It's supply side inflation, not demand side. Demand inflation occurs when people have too much cash and everyone can afford stuff which drives up prices. Supply side is different and due to Russia and Brexit, and us worsened by raising interest rates.

On #peston this week ex Bank of England chief economist Andy Haldane said the Bank should pause the lifting of interest rates. Today in @FT he elaborates, warning that the Bank is pursuing a new form of austerity. “Over a decade ago, in pursuit of lower debt, the UK enacted fiscal austerity. This ruptured growth and was self-defeating for debt. Today, in pursuit of lower inflation, monetary austerity risks the same fate. It is time to steer the stampeding herd away from the cliff edge, for the sake of the financial security of millions of people and the credibility of our policy institutions.”
