If you think about it independently, it’s absolutely insane how Europeans consider fully paid unlimited sick days as the most normal state of affairs. Why should the employer pay someone for whatever reason if he’s not getting any labor? Sick pay should then be covered by insurance or the state because it’s a type of welfare, but in Europe it’s the employers who pay. At least in Germany after 6 weeks the insurance takes over, but in the Netherlands the employer is on the hook for 2 years!
