@BillHuntBits Absolutely, yes! It’s my favorite Spielberg film as well. I think it’s been at least two decades since I’ve watched it. Thanks for the viewing inspiration, Bill!

At this point, I HOPE Section 31 kills this franchise for a while. Star Trek needs a break, and a real reset with a new direction and new creative guidance—people that embrace its roots and legacy of inspiration, not those who seek to turn it into glossy and grimdark space opera or to reinvent it to be more like every other bubble gum space franchise. Star Trek should be additive, not atomized and fractured. Let it lean into its strengths, and be what it was always meant to be... the optimism that humanity needs now more than ever. Let Star Trek be Star Trek. In the event some of you don’t know what that means, I’ll let its creator explain... “The human race is a remarkable creature, one with great potential, and I hope that STAR TREK has helped to show us what we can be if we believe in ourselves and our abilities.” –Gene Roddenberry

Grrr. @ParamountMovies is apparently releasing the franchise-killing SECTION 31 (I will NOT call it Star Trek) in 4K Ultra HD, but still hasn't released PICARD: SEASON 3 on the format. The latter was only filmed in 2K, but it features 12-bit color and a Dolby Vision grade, so upsampled it could look spectacular. Naturally, Secret Hideout probably blew all kinds of money to film S31 in actual 4K. The bastards. @thedigitalbits

4K review work this week at @thedigitalbits is definitely a case of everything, everywhere, all at once. Today’s arrival: INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY. “Give ‘em hell, Indiana Jones!” (But first, my TITANIC UHD review is forthcoming…)

@BillHuntBits @thedigitalbits I’ve really enjoyed both of your appearances on @inglorioustrek , Bill! Once again, Trek leads the way in home video. The STTMP Director’s Edition 4k rekindled my interest in physical media, which led me to order two versions of that film (through links on your site, of course.)

The podcast is live, baby: I’m talking Trek on home vid with the Treksperts again! It’s more fun than a Klingon intervention. Way more fun than a Vulcan one. @thedigitalbits

THE PAST IS PROLOGUE: This week on @inglorioustrek, the Treksperts are joined by @BillHuntBits to discuss the future of #StarTrek on home video. What's next for the franchise in 4K and beyond... and is #DS9 4K in the cards? open.spotify.com/episode/2KBASL…

Bill! Wow, this is an excellent shot, despite the haziness in the sky. Love the detail of the moon. And, there’s enough detail of Mars to serve as a color reference for Paramount to correct the War of the Worlds master!
Bill Hunt@BillHuntBits

Here’s Mars, a few minutes after it emerged from behind the Moon, as seen through my telescope tonight in SoCal. The sky was a little bit hazy here, so it was hard to get a crisply focused shot. But it was pretty to see through the eyepiece. “All these worlds are yours...”

@BillHuntBits #12 was my first issue as a subscriber in 1978. I loved that magazine. I remember seeing a commercial for Starlog every day during "Star Trek" reruns on WTCG (before it became WTBS) promising the latest coverage on Star Trek II! (Phase II). I knew I had to subscribe.

Never thought of it this way before. I love the message about laughter, but another quote that really resonates is, “Find freedom by accepting the boundaries of your domain.” #jesuscalling

@BillHuntBits So ready for this, and the physical release! I hope the streaming version sounds amazing on Paramount+, unlike Discovery and Picard, which always sound muddy compared to almost all of the other streaming services.

@BillHuntBits Yeah, I'm struggling with the new shows, too. They really feel like an alternate continuity instead of the original one. And agreed: the tone of Picard flies smack in the face of his character in TNG. So much for verisimilitude. But...the new SNW promo image looks fantastic.

@Sean_Mhd You're one of the most patient and professional mentors in the business, Sean. Your focus on building up, rather than tearing down, is only one of the reasons for that.
